So it is, that's new. It should be set so that just the Members Only sections aren't visible to lurkers. I'll have a look at the settings.Double-tap wrote:not sure if this effects everyone but when i'm in work i'm not supposed to log in to any site or forum but with the recent changes when i click on FORUM it brings me directly to the log in page. it wont let me view any pages unless i log in.
just wondering if someones not registered would they be able to view the forum.
the only reason i ask is i was a lurker here for about 1 year before i joined and if visitors cant view the site it may put them off joining.
BFTB - Wet Paint
Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Meh. So that was all a waste of effort then!
Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Nothing is a waste of effort! I am willing to help, but what do you want to do exactly?
Do you want to open a PDF and convert the entire document into separate images (1 jpg/page). If that is the case: it can be done easily! Need help with that, let me know
Or do you want to extract images from a pdf?

Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
I want the download files to be tamper proof, Jaye. It couldn't be done with .cbr, even by locking the files they were easily extractable, I thought pdfs were more tricky.
Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
You mean the comics, right? I would convert these to PDF and give them some sort of 'watermark' and password protection.
The images on the website I'd give a watermark via photoshop. That is a hell of a job to do, but it is non-removable.

Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Yeah I'm on about the comics.
The site images are safe, right-click is disabled in the flash galleries. Password protecting the pdf files is a great idea, is it straightforward enough?
That would prevent me having to watermark. I don't mind doing the task, it would just spoil the enjoyment of the scans IMO.

Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Glad to hear it! Does the site respond fully using Chrome?
Getting back to the pdf downloads, do you happen to know of a way where, when you click on the download icon, I can add a download confirmation box, as opposed to the pdf automatically opening within the browser?
At the moment you have to right-click and select Save As to download properly.

Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Chrome works fine everywhere. Plus it is really light on the operating system.
HTML is too limited for that type of dialogs. I think you need to switch to java or vbs for that. You could try disabling opening of the file and making "save as" default command. For all ideas I do not have a clue how to.

Re: BFTB - Wet Paint
Hi,
Uploading attachments has stopped working for me since the inclusion of the upload-progress popup.
The popup appears saying the upload is in progress, the main screen goes white and then that's it. I've left the thing standing for fifteen minutes just to rule out any delay, and along the same lines checked the connection at this end. No problem with the attachment files either - tried different ones and can email them externally at will.
Same behaviour in Safari and Firefox. Anyone else had the same problem?
