Re: Battlestar Galactica The Plan movie
I watched In the Beginning and The Gathering (B5 Pilot) back to back recently which was good. I feel sorry for JMS in the way B5 went off screen.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

A few years ago I was lucky enough to get the entire B5 DVD boxed set. And I watched the lot as quickly as I could. It was great, but I still prefer BSG. I do agree with some of the BAron's comments though some episodes were, well crap really, but in the main brilliant!
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
Re: Battlestar Galactica The Plan movie
never really liked B5. it was alright, but nothing special.
meant to watch BSG and forgot. caught part of one episode, couldn't believe they were driving Hummers and had Earth machine-guns and stuff out in space and never bothered trying. heard about how it ended and thought it was total bollocks.

i have been watching lost so i'm alright on that one, i'll give them a go and see whats what. The Baron wrote:Babylon5 is way better. BSG has a superb cast, spectacular FX and an ok plot. Where it falls down is an abolute total lack of any kind of humour. When it hits the mark it's bloody brilliant, when it misses it's extremely dull.gung-hoeddie wrote:i wouldn't mind watching the series, to be honest i've been tempted for a long time is it any good?
B5, on the other hand has a spectacular cast, great FX (for it's day - interestingly it was the same crew who went on to do BSG) and a stupendous plot.
Watch them both, mate. And Lost.

B5 was good stuff. Stopped after the end of the Shadow wars as it went south. Bang on with BSG, Baron. Great when its good but boy there were some real bummers. the Humvee's got me too, Sundance. My fave Sci fi of the last 10 years (by a HUGE margin) is Firefly. f*cking brilliant.
Anyone watched V yet?

Re: Battlestar Galactica The Plan movie
I'll let you know on the weekend
Nearly forgot a few other sh*t hot shows that deserved a mention, too. Smallville, Dr Who, The Clone Wars and Torchwood.
I have a couple of other shows to watch as well Invasion and Threshold. There is just not enough hours in the day. Also bought Trek TOS and The animated series too. Sigh.

I hope it ends better than V the Final Battle did.

There is a belief that we i.e. modern man travel back in time and effectively create the pyramids etc! This is caused in theory by travelling at light speed a travelling back in time as a result. You may be aware that if travelling at light speed your mass increases and therefore you would need more fuel to power the engines so with current technology this isn't possible.
Also the mention of Mitochondrial eve in the last few minutes of the last episode indicated that the show producers had thought about the science/theory of how mankind was created. We all started in Africa and our genetic origins can be traced via our cells mitochondria (the power house) and as I said this can be traced back to Africa.
So the end wasn't bollocks but based on scientific hypothesis. So I appluade the writers as they in my opinion made a damn good stab at explaining it all.
I look forward to your Wiki reply.
All this has happened before and will happen again.

Re: Battlestar Galactica The Plan movie
I have to agree Paul, the end was (mostly) wrapped up pretty good. I'm not so hung up on the time travel thing but the fact that they landed in Africa was very significant. A few loose ends tho, Starbuck, Cylon hybrids breeding with Humans (modern genetics) , Rampant Cylons running around the Galaxy (to this day?). Over all it was one of the best finale's I've ever watched. DS9 anyone?
