IDW International Trade Paperbacks

Post by antarctica »

http://www.turnaround-uk.com/books?op5= ... 5=gi%20joe

So in my never ending search for GI Joe comics.

I just discovered these, what I think are European version of the IDW trade Paperbacks.

The Best of GI Joe issues are know (and labeled) in the US as Classic GI Joe. In the US the Best of are completely different TPB's. So at the minimum the cover is different. Also are the IDW TPB's for issues #0-6 of the main series and the movie adaptation TPB, again both of those have different covers then the US versions.

So my question is has anyone seen these in person?
Did anyone have one?
And if so would the covers shown on the site be correct to what was printed or are they literally just US versions available on that site?
It is also possible that the website just used the wrong cover on the site!

Any info would be helpful from my fellow die hard Joes fans from across the Pond.

all i can tell you is that they are published by Panini, who hold the rights to reprint a lot of IDW's tie-in comics in the UK. they currently run a Transformers comic which uses IDW material as well as original stuff, they ran a short-lived Trek comic which was reprinting IDW's prequel to the JJ movie 'Countdown', but it was canned before the end. they also ran a Terminator Salvation comic which lasted 3 issues and was reprinting IDW's TS prequel comic.

the first two appear to be collections of Marvel US stuff, the second two collecting the new IDW run.

they're also on Amazon UK, but there's no extra info.

That's not right, the Transformers comics containing IDW reprint are by Titan, not Panini.

Which I suspect is the problem Panini have with distributing this comic overseas.

Ok, I got the official word.

These are the exact reprints of the US version BUT WITH A DIFFERENT COVER and sold only in Europe and still in English.

They are considered a foreign release but US standards. Of course, not for you all over there.

I've got a delivery of Joe graphic novels arriving tomorrow from Diamond. I don't know if they are any different, but will gladly take some pics if it helps?

if they're coming from Diamond, surely they're US imports?

Nope, not really as Diamond distribute everything.
If you look at the reverse of copy of Previews, there is usually about 20 pages of UK issue stuff through Titan and the like. We'll know in a couple of hours though......well I won't know, but am sure you'll all know the differences if there are any :-)
