You can tell he is Ex Army. Socks always pulled up.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

No socks visible guys, nor ex-army, all gortex boots. Mine are only ankle high, but Dad's are full length. We don't really dress to impress up there tho. More to keep our nuts warm for winter.

Truth is tho, if its wet and cold shorts can be better than trousers. The most important parts to keep warm are head, feet, hands and kidneys (and nuts). I do have my nice cosy Ridgeline thermal camo pants that make even hunting in snow a pleasure. Man oh man hunting gear has progressed in the last 30 years. IIRC some of the British Army's cold weather gear is made in NZ now, using cutting edge thermal material, like my pants.

I did inherit the Bedingfield knobbly knees too. So lay off the sexy legs fellers ;-)

Tis true. They must be seen to be believed. Light weight material and I have sat in snow and eaten sandwiches without getting either a cold or wet arse. Like I said, much better than them thar olden cold wet arse days. ;-)

No Paul, more designed for the NZ bush lots of green and brown. But they can be got in DPM as the NZ army use that pattern as well.

Weird, Eddie? Me? Sometimes you just have to eat sandwiches ;-) Beats the sh*t outta moss.

Is there a web site were you can get them? Can only get cold weather kit if going out of area. And won't be doing that (unless I have two operations).
