Major Wagstaff, 2IC

Post by Monkfish »

A very simple and minor repaint of Skip has created Major Steve Wagstaff, second in command of Action Force.

It's simple for two reasons: it has to withstand being played with, and it's my first ham-fisted* custom.

My son got his first Action Force for his 9th birthday, and good old Maj Wagstaff decided he'd find it all by undertaking a series of missions set around the house.

...and so on.

So one new high-level recruit to the AF team and one new fan of AF; not a bad day's work.

(*The grey on his face under the beret is deliberate and hides original red overspill - when I get a flesh colour I'll touch that up. The rest of the flaws are just my incompetence).

niCE CUSTOM! Even though the heads all look alike differences in the mould and paint app add a little difference to each figure - he looks like an old officer geezer...

Great work mate! I like this. Tamiya's flesh paint is the closest I have found to :AFLogo: flesh.

Love the custom. And really love the little briefing / mission orders. Great game to play with the kids.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Thanks for all the kind comments, and thanks Humby for the paint tip - I'll try and get hold of some.

S'funny how this site sucks you into the customs - it begins with innocently reading the comic archive, then you start picking up old toys, convincing yourself if not the missus that they're for the young 'un really, and before you know it a collection of little enamel pots sneak in and claim squatters rights on the dining table.

With my shaky handiwork?

More seriously, having seen or Ironblood's thread a couple weeks ago how much skill is needed for the colouring project I'd need to get up to scratch skillswise, and a monitor bigger and better than the one on my 13 inch laptop, but next year I'd love to give it a go.

Looking good, the yellow scarf works well indeed, is the 'tash just painted or did you mould it out of putty or something?
