Still, the bands that came out of Manchester in that era - even before Madchester - makes one a little nostalgic.

I think the headline of the below says it all about Mozza.

Mozza seems to have annoyed a lot of Scouse by walking out of his most recent gig. Had a good laugh reading about it. That's a life plan for a Manc: annoy the Scouse.

he collapsed on stage a few weeks ago, most recent gig some f*cker threw a bottle & it hit him the face so he had to stop.

Somehow as a solo artiste he is a trailblazer for Richard Ashcroft and Ian Brown. Maybe I'm forgetting a few others. Not including Shaun Ryder.Ross SC wrote:he collapsed on stage a few weeks ago, most recent gig some f*cker threw a bottle & it hit him the face so he had to stop.

On which note
Mozza should just go back to LA and hibernate.

Thanks for the prompt Ross, I missed your posts.Ross SC wrote:did you check out those vids i posted?
Yeah, Leningrad are somewhat legendary in Russia, 'irreverent', 'cheeky', 'full-on' and with a great love of parody in their vids.
That's the official version. Their lyrics mark them as outsiders as they use a lot of 'mat' slang, that's basically a lot of swearing involving references to one's mother, something which is not cool in Russia where everything is permitted except for 1) public use of 'mat' 2)massacring people on state tv whilst using 'mat' on the soundtrack 3) starting a revolution without permission 4) smoking in the immediate vicinity of an Orthodox icon. They pissed off a lot of people as a result.
Otherwise Leningrad integrate a lot of Russian riffs and folk-songs into their music, it's kind of touching in a way that Russian metal aspires to but never reaches. The lyrics are literally sort of like Madness crossed with the Kinks via a discursive Kirsty McColl and Shane McGowan drinking session.
To fully appreciate them you need to know a lot of mat, as in two or three years living in a big Russian city's worth, mat is like its own dialect (think 80 words for snow instead of **** or ****** or *+@& etc.)
Here's them getting very famous ...
... same for some of their more slovenly but more commercially lucked-out rock rivals.

Hey, tonight's the night of the 20th Anniversary of Scorpions keeping the Hoff off of No. 1 in Germany for all time. Respect!ODB wrote:Interesting they choose the Pendulum remix video (Pendulum ballsed that up nicely).Ross SC wrote:best band ever, & they are russian!
