Whedon's blamed Jeneut for it being sh*t. mind you, he also blames Halle Berry for the delivery of the line "You know what happens to a toad when it gets hit by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else.' in X-Men 1 which he scripted.
AVPR is quite gory, but i enjoyed it as a mindless action flick. It's kinda like Aliens in Smalltown USA with a Predator whupping ass through it.

Never watched them as I always assumed the obvious: the Alien would eviscerate the lumbering Predator within 10 minutes. Fact. Predator only looked good as Arnie moved slowly at glacial roid-rage pace. Fact.
