Re: Night Landing variant
How about making a sort of toy soldier size
type affair?
With toy "Airfix" type plastic soldiers painted up to look like say
or
, & using the appropiate stickers on the boat ?
It would certainly be something different & original.. I mean not every
custom has to 3 3/4 scale does it?, just look @ them fab 40mm gaming figures or custom 12" others have made.

I think my brother has both our Airfix collections unless he only took the bigger scale ones. I know he bought the Commandos years ago which would have made cracking SAS. Thanks for the idea though.

I think Airfix commandos are very easy to pick up from model shops now, as they've been re-released not that long ago, if not you can very often find them cheap in charity shops or on E-bay, as they must of been produced in the millions over the years.
The more I think about it, I may just "borrow" the idea my self...it would be very easy to do, just paint the commandos in black with grey camo' &, for an authentic toy soldier feel, no weathering or special paint effects of any kind. If you use the commando guy kneeling with a Bren gun & the fella with the tommy gun...http://www.airfixtoysoldiers.com/british_commandos.htm
or harder to find, use the modern S.A.S. set Airfix put out in the early 80's as they look just like
