GI Joe UK comic - international subscriptions?

Post by The Baron »

This is a copy of the communications between myself and Ian Hewerdine of Panini:
BFTB wrote:Hey Ian,

I run a GI Joe fansite and have been promoting the new Panini comic. There are a great many US collectors who have asked if the comic will be available for those in the US.

I'm not seeing the GI Joe title listed in Subscriptions, but I do note that there are international packages for Doctor Who subscribers.

Are there any plans to promote the GI Joe comics to the US market, please?

We're also kicking about ideas for a GI Joe convention in October. If it happens, would there be any interest from you guys in maybe making an appearance? Possibly a writers and artists panel or something?

Thanks,

Jim.
Ian Hewerdine wrote:Hi James,

Usually Panini titles run for a short while before subscriptions become available. This allows us to gauge the popularity of a new title. It would be a logistical problem if a number of people subscribed, but the title didn’t sell well enough to continue. Keep your eye on the comic and the website, if subscriptions become available for G.I. Joe it will get a mention in those places.

Regarding US subscriptions. If these are possible, we will most likely offer them. Several of our titles are available to subscribe to across the world. However, this is always limited by the license we have. Panini print G. I. Joe comic under license from the owner of the brand. This means that they may restrict sales to certain countries if other publishers have licenses in those territories.

I’ll forward your message to the editor of the comic, I’m sure he’ll add his comments regarding US subscriptions and conventions if he has any.

Kind Regards,

Ian Hewerdine

I wonder if the members on Joe Reloaded would be interested in this as they said they can't get it over there or possibly subscribe to it so thanks for finding that out Baron.

It's like that over here Chopper we have some figures and vehicles but not many and we got the film after everyone else had it.
