Best & Worst Original Palitoy Vehicles

Post by steve »

Ok to continue the best and worst theme what are the best and worst original Palitoy Vehicles?

Original
Best - AF5 - Three toys for the price of one, and it did really float :D , but not fly
Worst - AF7 Diving Platform - Wow a floating hole!

Wave 1 (Choose between the z force jeep, shadowtrack, satellite defence, swordfish, cosmic cruiser, stingray, boat patrol)
Best - Cosmic Cruiser - Really clever reuse of AF5
Worst - SAS Boat Patrol - It is the roof off of a jeep, cost effective yes, innovative no!

Wave 2 (Choose between Sealion, Roboskull, Triad Fighter)
Best - Roboskull - No competition
Worst - Difficult choice, but the of the three I would go for the Triad Fighter as it really should have been a little larger in scale

Overall Winner - Has to be the Roboskull!
Overall loser - Has to the SAS Roof Patrol! :D
It's good to be back

:cmmdr: Action Force STILL Needs You! :cmmdr:

of wave 1, AF5 was the best but on the whole the first wave was a bit of a disapointment, look at the full size Action Man stuff Palitoy was still producing at the time, a nice Scorpion Tank maybe even a Land Rover jeep, instead they all looked like stolen concepts from a Leyland drawing board for the Mini Metro. Well apart from AF7 but I dont remenber any of my friends having is as 5 did the water thing much better.

They also forgot to make any enemy stuff, all my German Soldier could do was sit in his cell in the original HQ.

Ohhh another Best Of/Worst Of thread, lets see:

Original (never owned any of them, so no opinion on this lot)

Wave 1:

Best: Swordfish (Awesome vehicle that really suits Q Force, used to good effect in the comic book stories too)

Worst: Stingray (Sorry but its just awful to me, and badly designed as if you were to play with it (ie drag it across the carpet to represent it swimming along) then those torpedoes underneath it had a nasty habit of snapping off, I know this cos my brothers did just that 2 days after buying it, leaving him with a lump of plastic. Ohh and couldn't they have thought of a more original name?)

Wave 2:

Best: Roboskull (No contest, hands down winner. I am very lucky to own a complete one)

Worst: Triad (Used to own one as a kid, was bored of it within minutes of having assembled it. Never really thought about its scale before, but yeah it could have been bigger, not sure whether that would have made it better though).

did anyone else rate Roboskull, I always thought it looked like a head on collision between a tie fighter and something from He-man.

I hated the robo skull!!! A flying skull, what rot! belongs in the world of he-man or toy guns that turn into robots... bah, bah, and thrice bah!!!

SAS panther was always my fave (mine had the yellow roll cage)! - *edit* Just thought I guess this wasn't a pallitoy original seeing as there are Joe variants */edit*

I could never get my head round those chunky guns they insitsed on fitting to the vehicles - for one they looked rubbish and secondly all the other guns where "propper" guns ( M16's, uzi's, SLR's, etc) so why did my SAS boat have this bizarre looking cannon thing mounted on it!!! Rubbish! And I say again the robo skull was pants- sub starwars tie fighter naffness!!!

I got to agree with you along with the Kraken and the Skeletron guy, they are the low points of the line for me. There the ones I choose to completely ignore

I can't remeber skeletron - will have to check out the AF Online archive...
