Kabaya Model Kits

Post by trysop »

Message originally posted in "wants", primarily due to my own incompetence ;-)

Hello all,

Forgive me if this is a bit off topic for this board but it seemed to fit better here than anywhere else.

I was looking through Alex Bickmore’s SUPER TOY ARCHIVE and saw these:

http://www.toyarchive.com/Gi-Joe/JapaneseKit.html

I was wondering if anyone here had ever seen them for sale anywhere and whether anyone might know if they were 28mm miniature compatible (about 1:50 scale or there about) or not?

I would love to know if they would work for 28mm wargaming before I try hunting them down.

Any help, info or leads on where I might get them I would be grateful.

Thanks

:muton:

That is what I though too!

I reallty just want to know if they are 28mm compatible before I spend time hunting them down, to potentially find they are not useable.

That is if I can even find a source for them.........

I am not very knowledgable about the whole japanese kit thing either, so I may be doomed to failure :-(

Cheers

I believe Airfix is 1:72.

72x28mm=2016mm which is a little long for being an average sized soldier.

I think airfix stuff comes in at either 1:32 (bigger than 28mm) or 1:72 (smaller) but i could be very wrong!

28mm tends to scale at about 1:50, so ranges between 1:48 and 1:56 tend to work ok with 28mm minis, depending on the kit and manufacturer.

AF vehicles tend to be about underscale in comparison to the figures proportions, so a kit that is on the smaller side would be ok, so long as it was not tiny.

Cheers
