'Sighs'

It may be a while before it is up and running. I have a small crap-load of things on at the moment, but i would be happy to try and sort this out, and try to get the basics done over the next few days.

However, I will need as much info as i can get as i dont have all the figures (a large part of pre-cobra/AF, but v. little after that).

I suppose exclusions to the variants list would be slight colour variations in paint (dark yellow vs light yellow, etc), and possibly different guns, etc. that came with the figure as these are not variants in the literal sense (or do people want these? To what depth of sadness, madness, and depravity are we willing to sink?)

So this is a general call to everyone, get looking!

Anyone think of a name for the project?

I'm with you there Paul, I never really used to have much interest in details like the country of manufacture stamps on vintage Star Wars & :AFLogo: figures, untill I started to really look @ 'em & notice how much the same basic figure can have so many slight differencies in moulding & paint deco's..
Now I feel like a big geek, looking though & sorting out boxes full of figures I already have @ toy fairs, trying to spot if they are variant to the one I've already got @ home.

Star Wars wise I've got a lot now, but am still searching out a nice condition Rebel Commander with variant belt & crease moulding.

A difinative :AFLogo: variant guide would be very usefull, but a lot of hard work for anyone I guess..

If it helps start us off, I got two 1st wave :commando:'s one with the webbing painted in green, the other's webbing is unpainted, is this a variant?, & if so which is the rarer?

Gulp!

Mrs Hopper:
"hello dear, where are you going with that pistol"

Hopper:
"oh, nowhere darling, just into the garage..."

30 seconds later

"CRACK" a single shot ring out in the night, and the sound of a body slumping to the floor

Mrs Hopper:
"Hopper dearest, are you alright? Hopper?"

Must be loads of unknown :AFLogo: variants about, has any one got the :cmmdr: with :pilot:'s body mould? I never seen one, the toy section mentions it but has no photo, is it really rare figure, or just an over sight by the over worked :baron:

Image

this photo shows my variant Quickfires. the one has pockets on his legs, the other doesn't.

also not, the one on the right, sans pockets, has different arms, he doesn't hold his Tommy gun properly. The arms look to me to be the same as the Breaker arms.

Thanks Sundance, good photo.

I can't believe i'm going to be this sad but...

The guy on the right is a Type 7 (Space Security Trooper’s Trousers, Flat Hand & Grey Camo)
The guy on the left is a Type 1 (Regular Trousers, Round Hand & Grey Camo)

This categorization thing may actually work!

Excellent!

All the figures were looked at, but i don't have them all and some of the photographs are not great so please PLEASE have a look and compare - is 2 Para's right arm the same as the German Stormtroopers, etc. If not, what is it like - send it in

If this is to work, then we need input.

the Aussie Jungle Fighter doesn't have a beret...

he's a 'bare' head, of the type later used for Breaker and Sky Raider.

so, he's HM12

where'd you wanna put in the new heads from series 2?

Infantryman/Wheels
Ironblood
Security Trooper/Patroller (unique head/torso)
Engineer (entirely unique)
Kraken (entirely unique)
Skeletron (entirely unique)
Red Wolf (unique head/torso)

Wow! This could get really geeky! How about over coming days and weeks I chip in with some photos? That way they can be categorised for componant parts and it will perhaps give some good pics fir the archive too? Lets start at series 1 and work on from there? Daft stuff like the commander variants, orange diver variants? How about I post pics of mine, and say whether I know of any variants I ain't got, then others can add any different ones they got? (not including att at this stage?)

(logged on by phone at moment, so can't start properly yet)

Excellent!

SteveD - yes, anything you can will help. Could get really geeky? We are paddling in deep geek waters my friend

Sundance - thanks, you're right about the aussie. Series 2? Store (or post) that information and we can get to it in a few days.

All good stuff... i reckon this could be really good, and it would be nice to have a list of what's really out there.
Plus, the more photos the better.

Cheers
