New Sculpt - Z Force

Post by Jimbo »

:zforce: :zforce: SKIP :zforce: :zforce:
---------------------

This has been my current project on and off for a while now, more so as I have run out of vehicles which inspire customisation (although I spotted something the other day which just begs for a Q Force paint scheme!). As I got into taking photos of my collection set up in varying dioramas, I lost out on the poseability of the old sculpt figures as opposed to the GI Joe repaints (Jammer, Steeler, Hunter etc) so I thought, why not ditch vehicles for a while and customise figures. I started with Q Force, but as Z Force is my current favourite, I though I'd show those first. Anything to do with the Heavy Brigade has to start with their boss, so Capt Cambell is up first. Based on the original figure, with some influence from Desert Strike.

Here he is as we always new and loved him.........

And here he is leading a Recce Patrol through the jungle........

Tell me what you think. What would you have done differently?

Stunned silence eh? Well, I'll get the discussion going somehow!

Here was my next bit of work. I always thought GI Joe's Hit 'N run had the perfect head for Wheels - he just needed the cam cream removing. The torso wasn't quite right, so I found one that had some webbing which I could paint red to reflect the red '58 pattern pouches on the original figure (although he sometimes turned up as a Z Force Infantryman).

Here he was back in '83.......

And here he is with '06 Skip, driving slowly......

......driving fast.......

.......and stopping for a look-see and a top-up.

Enjoy!

Very nice work on the two models, jimbo.

I especially like the Wheels figure.

I've been after a Brazillian Hit and Run for a while now to do a conversion, as he comes with a flesh coloured face and arms, not camo colour.

Love the fuel can and other ger on the jeep.

Must say I think the Skip figure looks pretty smart sat next his new driver. Think he needs a lil more time in the sun, he looks kinda pastey sat next to the healthy looking Wheels, lol.

EXCELLENT.

I waited around for a H/R from Brazil, but nothing came up on EBay or through my other contacts. In the end I repainted the entire face and head of a UK one. I then added the eyes etc in the same style as other figures.

It's his natural Scottish complexion!

Superb stuff, although if I may suggest Skip's beret be matt instead of gloss.

:) The paint is Satin, which is about half way between Gloss and Matt on the 'Shiny Scale', although I'll admit that in the first picture it catches the sun something wicked!

:scout: Me next!

The next one I picked to do was Scout. Always a favourite of mine from Jungle Terror, and I just loved his pack with those mines. Initially I had planned to do him with a moustache, just to take advantage of different head sculpts. However he just didn't look right, so I went for a figure based on what I believe is the defintive picture of him - take a look here:

http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/Blood/D ... %2024.html

This was him in 1984......

Image

This is what he looks like now, in an action shot reminiscent of his BAF File Card above..........

Image

And saving the day when he spots a spilled jerrycan catch fire near some ammunition as Z Force's mobile light infantry prepare to move.

I'm still not 100% happy with him. I am going to consider other torsos, and if I keep this one paint his t-shirt green to match the original (I initially left it skin coloured to match his short sleeves and his Desert Warfare speciality, however it doesn't look right). I prefer him with the gloves, even though he didn't have a pair in 1984, but I was most pleased to find a pair of lower legs to match his jackboots!

Great figure and nicely made, but not quite sure about the red shirt, maybe a lil too much, but saying that I reackon that the green vest he's wearing is pretty cool. Tricky. Maybe he just needs a few pouches or something.

I love Jammer leaving the Z-Force Portaloo, excellent.

Totally cool as usual Jimbo!

Yeah, the portaloo thing, you didn't see that in Jungle Fever. Nor :gaucho: hanging around the back as usual.

Exactly how many sensitive Ebay crimes did you have to commit to own half of the :zforce: plastic on the planet  ?
