Re: Hello, I'm New
howdy GI Rob, enjoy the forum mate and welcome to team extreme.
CIA got you pushing to many pencils.
Re: Hello, I'm New
Hello matey. Could I ask just how much you parted with when selling off your old collection? Are we talking hundreds of figures and dozens of vehicles, or just a ropey old Kraken with a missing leg?
If you made loads of cash then good on you. Does this kind of thing happen often then guys? People selling off their collection then regretting and building it back up again? I've not heard of this much before
If you are after anything in particular, chuck a list at us all and I'm sure we can help out.
I've got a spare Kraken leg

Re: Hello, I'm New
I sold my childhood Space Lego collection when I was 16.
I really regret it now.
I really regret it now.
Re: Hello, I'm New
Agreed. I'm not sure what it would take for me to part with my collection.Thundershot wrote:Hi & welcome,
So selling off your collection, was that something you now regret?
I know it would take something really life changing to make me part with mine.
What I can't stand is when I read in eBay descriptions "My missus has told me to sell my collection, so here it is"
By writing that you are basically saying:
(a) I am a mindless drone with no free will of my own
(b) My missus keeps my balls in a jar by the bed
(c) The poor woman has played no part in this. I need the cash
Basically, I don't like it when someone blames another person for 'having' to sell their collection.

Re: Hello, I'm New
I sold my Transformers collection but that was more a moment of madness rather than to actually make any real money

Re: Hello, I'm New
I should probably clarify, I'm not saying that's what you did GI Rob!!!! It's just a little rant from me about wankers!Shaunyboy wrote:Agreed. I'm not sure what it would take for me to part with my collection.Thundershot wrote:Hi & welcome,

Re: Hello, I'm New
Actually to be honest, sometimes I look at particular parts of my collection and decide I don't like them anymore. Maybe a sub team or a figure line I never really got into properly. I tend to move them to the back of the loft and forget about them for a while rather than flog them.
Then at some point I see a good photo or a diorama featuring one of them and rush up to the loft to drag them out!

Ditto. My friend Rich sold a load of 2000AD comics and spent years getting them all back. Every time we talk about collecting in front of his missus she openly urges him to sell his entire collection. I remind him of what he did in the past and he keeps them for a while longer. I think it's just a matter of time before he gives in.Double-tap wrote:i had a friend i hadnt seen in years sold his entire collection-comics, toys, video games basically a 20 year collection, when he got married. he didnt get very much for it and was devastated. i dont think he ever recovered. hes still married but not the same fella i remember-hes "normal" now.

It's like in a cartoon where a little devil and a little angel appear on someone's shoulder to argue it out!
Oooh, this thread has got me going!!! I'm thinking of the few times I've known people sell off parts of their collection and instantly regreted it!
