Chap Mei update
Re: Chap Mei update
That happens if they have placed a proxy bid, ebay auto-bids on their behalf every time you raise the bar. The other guy was probably offline the entire time.
In which case the end price would have been the same even using the 7-second rule.

So I really did raise the price for nothing then? I'm not used to this sort of thing on e-bay I tend to go for buy it now items so then I know I will have it without having to bid.

Re: Chap Mei update
It all depends. If the bidding was at £10, and you bid £11, then they bid £12, then you bid £13, then they bid £14 and so on then yes, you raised the price for no reason. It doesn't matter who the lead bidder is during the auction, only who wins.
However if the bidding was at £10 and they put down a proxy bid of £20, if you then bid £11 you will automatically be outbid by £12, if you then bid £13 you will automatically be outbid by £14 and so on you outbid their £20. If that was the case (as I suspect) then no, you didn't raise the price as the £20 proxy would have been in effect until close of auction anyway.
Proxy bids are a bad idea. I used to think that they "sent a message" to other bidders - "I've put down a big bid because I want to definitely win", all that happens is that everybody bids against you until yes, you are in the lead, but you are now paying the maximum you can afford for no reason.
I bid at 7 seconds and I bid large. I bid the maximum I am willing to pay and hope it comes in under. Bidding at 7 seconds means that rival bidders don't have time to then outbid me. If I am outbid then fair dues as I wasn't prepared to go that high anyway. It works every time (I even do it on auctions with no other bids, just for practice). The only real danger is meeting another sniper and having to pay through the nose.

That is pretty much what happened I would raise it up 50p or a pound then get matched. Oh well I look forward to getting these when I pay for them. I forget now who it was that posted me the link for this lot but thanks anyway.

Re: Chap Mei update
Haven't used e-Bay for a couple of months now, all I know is my wallet feels a lot better for it
.
I used to place my highest bid straight away when I first started using the site, soon learned the error of my ways..but it was getting to the point that, on something I really wanted I'd get auction fever & still end up bidding more than I really wanted to spend..
The biggest cure for me now is to take look in the loft @ all the cardboard boxes full of toys, I just don't have any more storage room left!!
Besides I've more or less got all the bits I've set out to collect when it comes to
& Star Wars now anyways

Just do happens that someone contacted me on Photobucket to sell it to him/her.
Staying where it is for now though. Totally inspired piece of work!

Re: Chap Mei update
No its not my creation but Russell`s, no mistake on your part.
I picked it up when he sold it on Ebay.
Probably what inspired me to start doing my own customs as I bought it before I discovered the forum.
