Rise of Cobra prequel novel update

Post by Red Laser »

I just finished the novel it was very good I could hardly put it down and will get the actual Movie novel. The fighting was downplayed in some parts to focus on the characters. Snake Eyes is more of a team player in the book so maybe that is a good thing. It reminds me of how the Star Wars prequel books were done hinting at what is to come without showing it which in this case are pulse weapons and the creation of genetically enhanced soldiers. The characters focused on are:-
Duke
Ripcord
Hawk
Cover Girl
Heavy Duty
Snake Eyes
Scarlett
Gung-Ho
Breaker
Rex and Ana Lewis

Duke and Ripcord are spec ops so here their codenames are revealed to be nicknames instead and Gung-Ho is the senior leader of the Joe team after Hawk.I recommend this book if you want to get in on the Rise of Cobra action early.

How can  have the spotlight in a novel? I can believe in comic, TV or in a children's book with drawings, but in a novel... is all visuals, since he doesn't talk and that...

there's a great bit in the comic adap where he draws his sword and shoves it under Ripcord's nose. Point made. and that could be described in text.

look forward to seeing that on-screen...

Just got this book today and am looking foward to reading it.

Hope it does a good job of setting the scene prior to the movie.

Hey Wombat long time no see. Apparently it does as the ending of Above & Beyond leads right into the film.
