I also have trouble getting a decent finish with white paint, especially with acrylics.
Spraying might have been an idea ? although the white parts you have used are spot on.

M having real trouble with my winter baron. Using skull White from games workshop but the finish is crap and every time I touch it it gets filthy and needs repainting.

Try spaying in several very light coats of white paint, & I know it sounds wrong, but I was once told by a modelmaking friend of mine that he uses a black undercoat for a better finnish on white paint jobs.

I use skull white for undercoat and the odd small detail, I can never get a decent finish with it for anything else. I dont have a problem with any other games workshop paints tho ....SteveD wrote:M having real trouble with my winter baron. white paint seems to be thicker and gloopier, I find sometimes with acrylic it dries too quick and every brushstroke seems to show up !The Kraken Wakes wrote:I think it might be white model paint in general as ive tried a few and come up against exactly the same problems...

Citadel's Skull white always ended up looking like Tipp-ex when I used to use it for some reason..
This was/is the best result I ever got with it, that's mainly due to the use of lots of chestnut brown washes, I think..

awesome, just awesome! the best option as far as white goes it to use the lightest base parts possible! the slightest amount of rub is gonna show like a bitch! for the best results with white paint you gotta use enamels! i use base coat the matt white, then a matt or semi gloss clear coat.
this is my favorite baron custom ever!
your shads look awesome, i will try casting my own shad heads asap, + some full shad palitoy customs..........
im just hoping i can cast them in red!
i dont wanna just cast regular shads, i may even resculpt a bit. so any suggestion? i kinda know what im gonna do, but some suggestions would be good, there are a few people on here whos opinion would mean a lot, you being one of them krakers!
sorry to hijack this, once again, lovely work!

Their paints do change consistency after awhile either dilute them slightly or chuck them and replace them. I take it though you do shake the paint before opening it?Thundershot wrote:Citadel's Skull white always ended up looking like Tipp-ex when I used to use it for some reason..
