Z Force Artillery System 80 and bombadier

Post by Jimbo »

Folks,

This is the second project which I've completed. This one filled the gap of some mobile artillery (always worried me that Steeler's 2MS was Heavy Artillery, but he only the ultra-static 'Attack' Cannon to play with).

So it started life like this.............

AS80

Based on the GI Joe Slugger, repainted with custom and re-used Action force stickers (I have a couple of bashed about Z Force jeeps from EBay, which are a great source of stickers). I added the Action Force machine gun, in place of the Joe one, and drilled a hole for the antenna - all to give it that Z Force feel. I'm on the lookout for some big red 'shells' to use as munitions in any future diorama (hint, hint!).

Bombadier

Roadblock with a repaint, a spare Steeler helmet, but with basic clear visor. A spare gun from AF Gung-Ho and a couple of ammo boxes from some cheap AF-Wannabe from Woolworths.

A couple more in the pipeline soon.

Enjoy,

Jim

another top custom

what paint have you used for :zforce: z force green its a good match

i love Bombadier he would have slipped straight into the original range, a whole team of them with slight variations re arming the gun with shells would be an excellent diorama. i'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

forever :zforce:

I tried a couple of types and colours, but my patience gave out and I went for ...

Humbrol Enamel SATIN 131

This is a green paint somewhere between gloss and matt, and although the colour isn't an exact match the 'satin' finish is close to the shiny, but not gloss, finish to the Z Force plastic.

Unfortunately enamels don't seem to take very well to the flexible plastic of the figures. I've painted an old US Para body (sacrilege I hear some cry!) with the same paint to give me a bit of body type variety on my Z Force army, but it didn't take well. I'll dig a picture out to demonstrate in a minute.

jim

thanks for the reference, i havn't got that one in my paint box, so i'll get some asap.

the soft plastic figures benefit from a coat of diluted PVA glue(white school glue) or acrylic varnish. be careful of the moving parts. this then gives the enamel something to bite onto. i paint my airfix figures this way and the paint stays on a lot better.

car spray paint also works but obviously the colours are a bit limited to painting reds :shadow: and blacks :stake: with some possibilties for yellows and blues :levi2: :phones: :skyraider: you need to experiment as different manufacturers have different paint recipies

hope this helps.................forever :zforce:...........andy
