If only Palitoy had used the jointed Joe molds to make....

Post by Stan Fernando »

its a shame....if only Palitoy had made the entire A.F. range and Enemy ranges using retooled and recoloured G.I.JOES....

The RED SHADOWS could all have been made using Cobra Commander heads and Cobra Officer bodies, Baron IronBlood could have been made from the Destro/Red Jackal Mold...i.e. black mask, white body etc...

Stalker could have been recoloured as Z-FORCE CAPT.GRANT CAMPBELL....the infantryman could've been Grunt...a real no brainer would have been to use Wild Weasel from the off as Red Wolf....etc, etc....

They could have even used the head molds they did make and put them on jointed bodies...i.e. the MoonDancer type body with a Z-FORCE Sappers head, they could have made S.A.S. Commandos that way too...Eagle could have been made with an S.A.S. STALKER body and the balaclava type head of a Q-FORCE SONAR OFFICER, with a removable gas mask....

What do you all think?

True. Yeah, I actually wish the whole range had been jointed, Red Jackal and Red Laser were by far my favourite enemy figures. Unfortunately they were also a lot more susceptable to breakage, thumbs and crotches in particular.

I'd still love to know how and why certain GI Joe moulds made it into the range when others didn't. One day I plan to buy the entire GI Joe collection and organise them into the four teams.

While I didn't grow up with Action Force (I'm a US resident obviously), I think red jackal2's idea is a cool one to consider. Crimson/red colored Officer bodies with Cobra Commander heads would have been pretty decent as an idea, I think. With the advent of RIT dye usage, it could be possible to even make something somewhat similar today yourself.

Yeah right and you would rit dye an officer/ soldier/ CC V1 & a crimson guard. I don?t think so. What I?m trying to say is that it is way to expensive to make customs out of these figures. Unless you take the latest Ofiicers/Crimson Guard versions. But red over blue with rit dye does that work at all ?

I see v1 Cobra Commanders here and there that are plenty beat up that would be perfect for custom fodder projects like this. You really only need the head anyway. I also managed to pull a v1 Cobra Officer out of a $2.00 bin at a show not too long ago.

Now, I don't remember anyone mentioning RIT dyeing Crimson Guards, so where that part of your comment came from, I'm not sure. But, I have a bunch of the remolded Crimson Guards with yellow symbols that aren't worth anything since the ones with gold symbols came out. I'd be willing to sacrifice one for a custom project. Normal or discolored Python Crimson Guards would also be prime candidates for RIT dye projects.

Now this is the question. I think the blue may be too dark to RIT dye and it will just go black. I checked Thorn's FAQ and it's been stated time and time again on different boards that

Than the only option you have for Rit Dyeing an officer is the Cobra Stinger Driver. Here in Europe you can?t find that many of officers/soldiers/CC. So it will be an expensive hobby to do this. But maybe in the VS you can find enough of those that aren?t that good anymore and are only good for custom jobs.

Well if you get to it and have one ready I?m anxious to see one.

Gah, I totally forgot about the Stinger Driver and I do occassionally see really yellowed ones, but they're pretty rare too. There's also the new Night Watch set that is available in the States that would make a good test figure for dyeing.
