I agree with Eddie and Ironblood. I'm a big fan of the books as well mind you.

Connery
Moore
Lazenby
Dalton
Brosnan
Craig (only because I havent seen enough to decide where he fits).

That being said, Brosnan wasn't bad at all.

Connery is the best Bond but Moore is my favourite.
Lazenby isnt great but On Her Majestys Secret Service is the best Bond movie.
watched casino and quantum recently after a friend recommended casino but found casino pretty boring after a great opening sequence and thought quantum was a far better film.
Craig isnt bad as Bond but i consider his 2 films to be a reboot of the whole francise.
thought the Dalton films werent bad and had a really gritty feeling to them but didnt like Dalton in the role.
cant stand brosnan as Bond even tho i thought he'd be perfect in the role and wasnt impressed by his films.

I don't think Lazenby was that bad, he did a better job than Connery in the later films imho. Moore was damned fun to watch, that Acrojet sequence was awesome and funny but not completely stupid. Loved it. Brosnan was in Goldeneye, Nintendo64 aside it was still one of the best Bond films ever I think. Brosnan was let down by Terri Hatcher and Madonna. I can't recall a Bond film that had big name actors that was great.

I like "Never say Never again", there is a fan edit called "Never say Mclory again" that is awesome, put all the Bond music etc back into it. Well worth watching and uses Shirley Bassies "history repeating" as the title tune.

dont get me wrong i like lazenby and the ending of OHMSS is fantastic plus the end of blofeld??
i think the Moore Bond is my favourite because these were the films i watched when i was a kid.
i was disappointed with golden-eye cause i saw it after playing the game and dont think the villians where up to scratch in the Brosnan movies.
connery is cool and my fav is you only live twice which i think was my first exposure to ninjas as a kid. i liked the dalton movies and actually think they where ahead of their time.

the new movies are good and like i said seem to me at least to be a reboot of the series which i dont really mind but again the lack of a decent villian is holding them back. we still dont know who the real mastermind is so hopefully they'll pull it off. i think Craig is a pretty decent Bond and his relationship with M is excellent.

i am a Bond fan and even tho there are films or actors i'm not fond of there are none i can say i dont like.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly. I cam remember my Folks taking me to see Octopussy (it may have been my first Bond) and though how cool it was. Dad was a huge 007 fan so he was really keen to go. Same deal I think, Roger Moore was so good because that's who I saw at the cinema.

Here are my golden rules of Bond,

1: JB is ALWAYS in control.
2: He can't look like he's had the sh*t kicked out of him too often, "Dr No" is an allowable exception ;)
3: He must shag himself silly half pissed on Martini's.
4: He is M's Boss and he/she should not be allowed to forget who is really in charge for more than a few minutes.
5: Gadgets are cool in the right context, surfing on collapsing ice flows is not allowed again. Ever. I mean it.
6: Aston Martins are a must, but I'll allow a Lotus for a short spell. BMW's are a definite No-no :-P , Jags are fine as well.
7: The villain has to be nasty, really nasty.
8: Walther PPK or nuthin.
9: Bond girls are supposed to be unknown actress's, not sh*t house B grade wannabe's.
10: So is James Bond. +1 there for Craig.
11: BRING BACK Q. Or R, that's fine too.

There ya go, 11 Commandments of Bond. Miss too many of these and you have a Bourne film ;)
