Born in the USA!!! Erm, well Hull anyway!

Post by Malcolm Orr »

I've been sourcing Hasbro AF filecards, and there's some interesting things

Wild Bill
US - Brady Texas
UK - Initially West Germany
UK - then Hull when he was a Tiger Force agent!

Mutt
US - American
UK - Spanish
UK - Glasgow, Scotland!!!

Hawk
US - American
UK - Warminster, England
UK - American again

All very interesting!!!

He probably used his sister as the attack dog then....... Glasgow women are scary creatures!!!
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

I have a list somewhere of similar things... Ok, Ok, I'm on it..... grumble, grumble.... It'll be done today.

All I can say is from a point of continuity I take BAF as gospel (unless its just plain silly) and the later releases I just work around the stories. If the sh*t fits....

With the Hasbro era stuff, whaT I'm doing is choosing the 'best' variation for the filecards/profiles, so usually I think the first Hasbro AF info is 'correct', but in exceptional cases I'll deviate. So Roadblock is American, for example, and Wild Bill is from Hull... EEK!

However if I was making datafiles (BAF) I'd stick to them. Torpedo, though, I'd default to Palitoy unless Hasbro AF says otherwise, in preference to the GI Joe version. It means that Baroness is the Palitoy one despite Destro and CC being the Joe on, and Stormie is Tommy Askrigde (or whatever I didn't check the spelling!)

So my hierarchy of canon for my Hasbro AF additional characters is:

Hasbro AF>Palitoy AF> GI Joe

Wild Bill's always been from Hull. that's what my file card for him says and what his IP in the comic said.

Rock'n'Roll's from Truro in Cornwall!

Scott, is there any chance you could send me, or post on the forum, a scan or clear photo of the filecard? Chopper and I are trying to collate a database for the archives! We don't have that one!

here's the file cards i have with non-American birthplaces. TF Duke, Sub Zero, Salvo and Cross Country all have US birthplaces. Storm Shadow has no birthplace listed. i can also do Super Trooper if you want...
