Is Yo Joe safe? Been a bit worried about going there because I'd also feel like I was cheating on BFTB. Besides I try and ignore the Joeverse I'm a bit concerned that it could be full of the anal retentive collector types.

Paul, Steve and TKW. I wouldn't call you retentive at all. I'm more referring to the types that will criticise a collection if its not 100% correct in their opinion. You guys are pretty easy going. Weirdest one I had was a bloke on a train forum that was wanking on because I was repairing my old Tri-ang trains. He thought they were crap and went off ranting that I wasn't a model train collector because they were inaccurate reproductions. I told him what I thought of him, suggested he should get a manager and stop handling himself. I wasn't going to argue with the dickhead, it was a waste of energy.

In summary, this place is awesome. The only other group of guys I've been involved with that are even close is the Atari collectors fraternity. Long live BFTB. Chink, chink...

Very quiet these days, but I've been collecting/using Atari computers for about 25 years. comp.sys.atari.st and comp.sys.atari.8bit are my usual haunts. Probably the last 2 years have been VERY quiet mind you. Anyway, the guys are generally easy going and very eager to help. Similar to here. alt.guitar is very good too (tho a couple of spammers/trolls make it a bit tricky some times). I've shipped stuff off all over the world. Hand cut a nut from Alaskan Walrus Ivory for a Stratocaster I built. So HISS tank isn't the norm Just most other places are.

Usenet can be good and it can have its pitfalls....
