Yeah, it happens. So what? Are you an expect on every topic on the planet? I think not.

Parents clearing lofts, people selling a toys they found at a car booth sale, etc. You expect every seller to be a toy expert? Sorry, but who the f*ck you think you are?
Calm down..calm down..
I'd think to most sane members the public, toys are just "kids" things.. & don't know or care about the toys in the same way about the thing's as some of us (obsessive) collectors do.
Some of my most treasured & best finds have come from nice genuine people who haven't a clue about what they're selling & are just happy to get rid of this "junk"..
What really winds me up are the people who take this silly hobby of ours too seroiusly..

For me it's just a bit of fun (as i think it is for most of us), getting stuff I didn't get when I was a kid and replacing the AM stuff I foolishly sold. And coming here to BFTB probably one of the few stress / hassle free places I come to. It's great a good laugh and a place of endless information, help and advice.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Thanks very much!
One of the best aspects of ebay is trawling through miscellaneous joblots in search of treasure. It would be much less fun if everything was properly catalogued IMO

Sorry, but failing to see it from another perspective is a perfect example of taking the hobby too seriously. People are getting rid of a box of 'junk', are more than happy when they get a tenner, and you expect them to do research? Come on, lighten up a little...
My opinion, for what it's worth, is mixed on this one - I love spotting a hidden gem in an auction, and have been known to approach the seller to see if they will accept a cheeky offer - a recent auction that had a load of Z Force figures with Jammer tucked away in the photographers shadow is a classic example. If I'd have won that, I'd have been very happy, as it ended up going for £30 odd quid for the lot. I was tempted to bid up to £50, but once realised someone else had spotted it it made it kind of pointless - I didn't need Jammer, I already have him. An example of the "some old figures to get rid of"/"box of junk from when I was a kid".
But I have been known to help Sellers too - recent seller that had, I think, a series 1 SAS, Muton, and weapons pack. She thought they were worthless - few quid at best, so she was pleased to get alomost £30 for the SAS. She didn't have a clue with them, so I was pleased to be able to help her out by pointing out she had a quite rare item.
I think we all take it too seriously sometimes, and need to respect the fact that there are still people out there who use ebay to sell "a box of junk" from the attic. I still prefer it when it's like that to be honest, as it's fun to win the box of junk, and match up the weapons etc. Girl I work with bought a new house recently, and when she moved in the loft was full of junk, so she put it into batches, and sold the lot on ebay. No toys unfortunately, but to her it was more about just getting rid, and she was already annoyed at having to spend a weekend clearing someone elses crap out of the loft - to ask her to sit and catgorise it all would have been silly, and the way she saw it - any money she made on ebay paid her for her time that weekend. There's still people like that out there using ebay, and in my view it will be a sad day when there's not.
