My new favourite space force figure

Post by steve »

Made one of thse guys last night, liked him so much I've just made three more....

....without further ado may I present the Space Assault Trooper, picked from the elite of the Space Patroller and Space Security Trooper Ranks, these troopers, specially trained by SAS force take on the toughest jobs including EVA combat.

Image
Components are simly the limbs from a space engineer (I had a fair few incomplete ones) and the body from a patroller or security trooper. The End result just works so well, you can easily imagine it as part of wave 3!

Image

The left over parts make quite a useful SST/Patroller variant with open face mask, the one with yellow limbs is the Space Force Armourer, and the one with Orange is a Space Force Gunner.

Biogs..

Post by steve »

I have thought about a hand transplant, I'm going to do some experimentation on some spare parts to see what the best way to cut is, and what glues work best without dissolving either paint or plastic.

The Biographies currently are as follows:

Space Assault Trooper (Red Flash)
Codename: Meteor
Name: TBC
Born: London, England
Primary Military Specialty: Space Assault
Secondary Military Specialty: Marksmanship
Biography: A former member of the Royal Green Jackets, Meteor was one of the original Space Patrollers. He later received special intensive training from SAS Force in Space Assault Tactics, and is now part of the elite Space Assault Force. Meteor is the best shot in Space Force, and competes with Tracker to be the best in Action Force
"Meteor is as tough as they come, and proudly leads the Space Assault Team. His men would follow him anywhere"

Space Assault Trooper (Orange Flash)
Codename: Condor
Name: TBC
Born: Boston, USA
Primary Military Specialty: Space Assault
Secondary Military Specialty: Unarmed Combat
Biography: Third generation Boston Irish, Condor is proud of his dual heritage. After a number of run ins with the authorities in his youth Condor joint the US Marines in an effort to find a role in life. Excelling in Assault tactics and unarmed combat, Condor was later offered a postioin as one of the original Space Security Troopers. Later Condor received special intensive training from SAS Force in Space Assault Tactics, and is now part of the elite Space Assault Force.
"Despite his US upbringing, Condor remains an Irishman at heart"

Space Assault Trooper (Generic)
Codename: Various
Name: Various
Born: Various
Primary Military Specialty: Space Assault
Secondary Military Specialty: EVA Combat
Space Assault Trooper, picked from the elite of the Space Patroller and Space Security Trooper Ranks, these troopers, specially trained by SAS force take on the toughest jobs including EVA combat.
"With the best training from both SAS Force and Space Force, the Space Assault Troopers are a formidable team"

Space Force Gunner (Orange limbed engineer body)
Codename: Guns
Name: Artois: Rene
Born: Paris, France
Primary Military Specialty: Gunnery
Secondary Military Specialty: Missile Technology
Biography:Guns served in the French Navy as a gunner's mate aboard a cruiser. Changing technologies made his role obsolete, so in search of a new challenge he joint Space Force to lead the small gunnery crew aboard Space Force 1. His team man the main gun turret aboard the station, and also train security personnel to man the smaller point defence turrets in an emergency.
"Guns would sooner rely on human skill than mechanisation, as he feels that relying solely on computers to fire weapons is asking for trouble"

Space Force Armourer (Yellow Limbed Engineer Body)
Codename: Q
Name: Boothroyd, Desmond
Born: Winchester, England
Primary Military Specialty: Small Arms
Secondary Military Specialty: Munitions
Biography:
Q formerly worked at the Royal Small Arms factory at Enfield, and did much experimental work on producing Laser side arms. The lack of funding for the project led to him resigning his post and taking up an academic role at MIT where he worked alongside Kiwi. He was offered the armourer role with Space Force based on the work he had done at Enfield and on Kiwi's recommendation, since joining Space Force he has combined day to day armoury work with R&D on the next generation of Space Force weapons.
"Q can strip and reassemble any Space Force small arm in seconds, and it usually works better than it did before"

Just need to figure out what the shadow response to these guys will be.....

They're superb!! Paraplegic, but superb nonetheless. Reminiscent of the short-lived Space Judges from 2000AD Megazine.

:skyraider: "Space Force is an equal opportunities employer "

Cheers for the postive views so far

If anyone wants to have a go at making one of these for themselves, the only thing to watch out for is that the leg joints on the Space Engineer figure are surprisingly brittle. (As such a couple of these have leg joints repaired with a small screw).

Next thing to work is some kind of space shadow, but this is proving to be tricky as there are very few suitable donor parts that can be used without a repaint, but I am working on options.

as usual too cool

i've managed to unpack my pc after my house move so i've just seen these. they are superb.

i have experimented with hand transplants. i cut the hand at the wrist with a scalpel. then drill the wrist and hand witha pin vice (a small hand held drill) when you remove the drill the rubbery nature of the plastic means the hole shrinks slightly. this allows a slightly larger plastic or metal rod to be inserted but not glued. the hand can then be twisted which allows minute corrections to hold weapons better etc. hands that should hold weapons can then be held at the figures side looking more natural ie the left hand of the SAS SQUAD LEADER.

I recommend Araldite for Action Force repairs.

As for a Space Shadow, how about: Kraken body, Shadow head, Muton limbs.

Nice recipe! The other that springs to mind would be to use a Skeltron Body.

Trouble with it is you get 2 skull & crossbones logos. Plus no-one in their right mind is gonna start hacking up shadows and krakens!

Something a bit cheaper might be muton limbs, black major torso and Q Force sonar officer head? Then again, that might look crap.
