I was having a bit of a tally up of enemy figures last night, when i noticed a shadow that i'd purchased recently was different to all the rest.
Firstly the black lines that go up either side of the chest finish below the shoulders on all my regular ones therfore leaving a gap of red between the black on the shoulders and these lines.
On this different one however there is no gap,the lines go all the way up.
Seconly the hands seem slightly different,on this variant one the thumb on the right hand is basically touching the figures but on the others there is a bigger gap for holding weapon/ammo box.
At first i was worried i had been ripped off and bought some kind of repro, but having looked in the toy archive here i have noticed that it appears the french released shadows are different to the uk ones.
The second picture of the shadows in archive is like the variant one i have.
There is also a bit of a difference with the bazooka i have, all the rest are a shinny finsh but this one is a duller.
Can anyone help explain please.
Red Shadow Variant
Re: Red Shadow Variant
I'd never noticed that with the paint before, but it's the old "different head mould" later release thing I'd guess. Slightly different head too? And not as straight painted "eyes"?

There are a few threads here in the archives somewhere detailing the differences captain watts.
I much prefer the second mold of the Shadow with the 'proper' hands.
The Baron on the other hand prefers the 'thin' hands.
Andy1672 did a nice pic a little while ago on here of the differences between the SAS pilot.
Can't seem to find either thread at the mo, though!

The shadows with the equipment straps painted all the way up (which makes more sense!) seem to be a bit rarer, and I agree with the Baron they look a bit better too!

I've said it before..but from certain angles the "new sculpt" shadow head puts me in mind of Kermit The Frog..

HATE the 2nd wave shads. Nicer boots, nicer hands, sure, but they have smaller heads with awful paintjobs. The originals look mean while the others look inbred.
