My collection....sort of....

I have finally started taking pics of my collection. It's a work in progress, but if anyone is interested, check them out here:

I still have to add pics of my Star Wars stuff, more on the MOTU 2XXX stuff, and I have about 400 loose Joes that I haven't gotten to snap yet. Plus, this doesn't include anything from my Joe collection from 1997-current. Overall, these pics represent about 1/2 of my collection (it's the cooler half, though).

If anyone has words of encouragement, advice on the setup of the room, or whatever, I welcome all comments.

Cool display! A while ago I could get around 5 metres of store-shelving from my old employer (Xerox) for free, but as I had to take the entire lot in one go, that was a little bit too much for me, I turned down the offer.

I don't know....do you count My Little Ponies as "action figures"? I don't have any of them

Also, no Transformers there - I had about 250 of them but I traded them away to get my international Joe collection started a few years back.

Most of the random 80s stuff (at least the loose stuff) was mine as a kid - I was spoiled pretty badly by my parents. It's just been lately that I have been working on getting some of those MOC. Of course, it impacts my Joe collecting that I get distracted chasing some random stuff, but then again it keeps me from burning out on Joes.

I just scored a complete set of Robo Force figures....need to get a pic up when they arrive....

Dave, yes I agree, using the Bobafett jet fire with Joe packs was a great idea!
It was cool that the GI Joe Club released those 2 figures with jetpacks and flames for one of the conventions!

(Some of us have tried to do the same thing with the regular released jet pack backpacks (but with "varying" degrees of success - I speak for myself here

Back in 2001-2002, Mattel decided to update and relaunch the MOTU line. The figures were sculpted by the "4 Horsemen" and provided an update to the line. While some criticized the figures as looking "too anime", most agreed that it was a welcome update to the MOTU franchise.

Unfortunately, this line will probably go down in history as the most poorly-managed line of all time. Mattel chose to flood the market with multiple versions of He-Man and Skeletor - as many as three figures in a wave of six would be "new" versions of these two characters. Since only six figures came to a case, it wasn't long before He-Man and Skeletor were clogging up the pegs and the "supporting characters" were impossible to find. To make matters worse, Mattel showed a total lack of imagination and started putting out filler waves of repaints rather than make characters that people wanted to see (Jitsu, Scare Glow).

This led to the eventual death of the line, but not before they released a couple of waves that only turned up in the European market.

I don't really know much about MOTU.

Are the loose figures vintage, they look it to me.

Out of curiosity, when did MOTU begin? Was it '84?

And how long did they run for?

And roughly how many figures were in the eventual range? Anyone know?

Sorry for the numptie qu's but I only ever had the Man-At-Arms figure!
