Looking at SteveD's amazing collecting room pics got me thinking about his subtle 'less is more' approach.

My shelves are absolutely crammed full. I just can't resist.

These pics are 3 years old. Before I got the AF bug.

It's all Star Wars only, but there is actually shelf space! This was my 'less is more' approach. Didn't last too long...

I got rid of my star wars bulk quite a few years ago and just kept my loose figures.

Every time I see these sort of pics it makes me regret it !

Nah, I disected it!

Firefox has this wonderful option; right-click on a link and select "Copy Link Location"

Then all you have to do is paste it to the forum. It has a similar "Copy Image Location" which I use all the time.

I used the "Next" button from page 2.

You can do the same thing with IE by hitting Properties, but it's a lot more hassle.

Like most collectors, and that's a bloody shame to be honest. People spend thousands of pounds/dollars/whatevers on their collection. Then they display it without any feeling for design or taste in/on the cheapest IKEA crap possible. Cramming up figures, row after row, 50 figures per square inch.

Now, does a good car/furniture dealer have its showroom crammed full to the roof? No. Presentation defines the impression. Focus on a theme, rotate the collection, it will make the collection look so much better. Also nice for visitors, new things to see.

Less is more, fully agree on that. SteveD's way of presenting things is maybe not the cheapest solution, but it looks friggin' good!

This is true, but Ikea is good, when done right.

I had my mind set on Oak Display Cabinet until my friend sent over pictures of his completed room using IKEA, which seriously has made me reconsider what I should do with the limited space I have available.



I'll start another thread with the constraints I'm faced with, but the IKEA option suits my situation better and probably means I can get more for the money too.

IKEA was just a figure of speach for all those cheap ass cabinets around. Of course IKEA can work when chosen carefully.
