I was watching over the weekend a rerun ot Time Team on the telly (for anyone not fortunate to have seen this programme, each week a bunch of potty archaeologists travel around Britain and dig up old settlements)

Anyway this episode they were in Canterbury and they found remains of an old Roman villa. amongst the old pieces of pottery and stuff unearthed was a vintage z force tank although it came with a Roman Centurian figure instead of Steeler, does this mean the z force tank came first?

At the time (1984ish) my baby sister bit off the tow hook on my tank, so does this not make it the first example without a towhook?

I would of thought, that as it had Hasbro stamped underneath and was based on an Amercican tank, that all Action Force collectors would think this was based on a GI Joe tank and therefore not be the first release.

In fact I don't think since the days of Action Man had any GI Joe been based on earlier Palitoy releases. Palitoy were responsible for 12" Gi Joe Eagle Eyes, Gripping hands, realistic hair and repainting 33/4 Joe items to look better than the originals for Action Force.

It might not of been the first but the Z Force version did look the best (well not including the saucy black version) and looks the business in the Z Force Command Centre.

Sandstorm, as a US collector, do you have USS Flagg, if you do put up some pics, I'm dying to see some good pics of this, the ones on ebay generally look pretty naff, and at 7ft this is as close as I will ever get to owning one. :P

You can get closer than seven foot, man, just stretch out with your feelings.

Does this mean that all of the comics I scanned aren't actually english?

Actually I think you'll find that the case is realistically speaking far more likely to be a tad more specific rather than merely pedantic.

I'm all for quibbling over insignificant details but I strongly doubt that I would actually bother to join a forum in order just to nitpick.

Nah mate, you don't come off as mean, I have no towhook either. Do you guys need Archeology?

Transformers are Spanish? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! The pain!! Must... fight...

MOBAT
[Motorized Battle Tank]

Description:
The MOBAT [Motorized Battle Tank] was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1982. The box included the straight-arm version of the driver, Steeler.

In 1983, the action figures were re-tooled with swivel-arm battle grip. The MOBAT included the swivel-arm version of Steeler and the text on the front of the box reflected this change. The MOBAT was also sold in 1984 and was discontinued in 1985.

The MOBAT mold was later used in 1985 to create the Sears Exclusive Crimson Attack Tank (CAT), the 1998 version of the MOBAT, and the Cobra C.A.T. II (2003).

Easily Broken/Lost Pieces:

Take extreme care to not lose the machine gun that attaches to the turret. It is very small and very easy to lose.

Also, the hand grips on either side of the turret can sometimes break off.

Also, if you're not using the toy regularly, remove the two "D" batteries out of the bottom of it. Corroded batteries can ruin the motorized function of the MOBAT.

Variants:
There are two variants of the MOBAT. The earlier version of the MOBAT had solid tank treads, while the later version had notches in the tread to help keep the tread stay aligned. In addition to the tread changes, the battery cover was modified to make it more secure.

In Canada in the early 1980s, the MOBAT was recolored black and sold as a Consumer Distributing exclusive Cobra Tank. In Europe in 1984, the MOBAT was recolored in green, red, and black and released as the Action Force Battle Tank.

Baron. I joined this forum to see what the Action Force collectors had to say. The first thing I read was a verbal bashing of one of my favorite vehicle molds. Therefore, I felt the need to correct the mislabelings. In my interpretation, your remarks were not sarcastic, though you say they were. But to continue on with the sarcasm, up to the point of patronization... that just doesn't seem like acceptable behavior from a group moderator to me. On that note, I'm letting the MOBAT subject go.

I hope that I may be of some help in the future as far as information and opinions go.

Plastik. I truly wish I had a USS Flagg. But as of now, funds and space do not permit it.

Once again, lighten up man. I'm surprised that you feel my behaviour is unacceptable; you've obviously taken my comments far too seriously. To be fair, your initial post was the patronising one, by republishing my links with the "correct" headings.

I think that this is a culture clash, rest assured there's no animosity intended, I just thought you were being a bit boring. Believe me there isn't a soul among us who doesn't already know the hierarchy of the GI Joe / Action Force story, (there's even a comic adaptation).

All of the points you picked up on, and chided me for, were already freely available on the MOBAT link, http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/82/mobat/ which is why I saw fit to reproduce it here. Also, I do not appreciate being called ignorant.

But anyway, I don't feel that I gave one of your favourite vehicle moulds a verbal bashing, so will not apologise for such. I am, however, sorry for upsetting you, because that was certainly not my intent.

For the sake of accuracy, I didn't post any pictures at all, and was referring to the CatII as the original only in the context of the actual discussion thread.

If the US/UK debate really matters to you though, go to the Polls section: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/phpbb2/ ... .php?t=258
