Looking back at those pictures just reminded me how much I always liked the Swordfish as a toy. You could fit loads of figures in it, take it in the bath, float it down the river, yet it was still perfectly at home on the lounge carpet (once you'd emptied the river water out, obviously. I'm surprised any remain in good condition at all really.

Only my Tonka truck and my toy General Lee saw more action than the swordfish - and that Tonka was bloody indestructible! Off to my Dads house for Xmas tonight - lets see if I can track the Tonka down!

hahahahaha, I used to have a metal Tonka dump truck that used to double as a troop carrier for the Shadows (then later defected to Cobra) :)

Defo, those are from the annuals aren't they? In which case they would have been at retail by October and the pront deadline for something like that would have about August (when you think how many they would have needed to print AND how many titles too, not just Battle Action Force) so the photgraphy would have probably been requested in and around July/ August.

Mind you, none of that would make sense if the products came out in March ;)

Here are all of the Battle promo pictures. Some are from Summer Specialls, the taller pages are from the Annuals. :kiwi: in particular is noticeably different, along with the yellow :surfer: board.

The shot of the Q-|Force team, which is from the trade catalogue too, has a prototype Sealion, if you look at the mini side subs.
I'm hoping this might be one of the prototypes I've been given the heads up on :)

It's also got the prototype sea skimmer in yellow.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Heya Steve, that AF7 is pretty impressive too, same size I guess. I got 4 figures on board the one you sent over atm as well as some extra hardware.

Unfortunately my Dad destroyed my Tonka truck with a Vauxhall Viva when I was a lad :( First thing I got my son when he was old enough was a Tonka truck mind you. All boys should have one, and an Action Man.

That one is a prototype too, the production version of the Crusier has 3 engines in a triangle, whereas that has two engines at the top. As for the snowspeeder, it looks like it's been based around the engine part, but it's not the actual part itself used.

I have come across a similar piece before with the Millennium Falcon radar dish. It was vaccum cast from the piece itself, which is injection moulded. This process produces a lower quality product, not as detailed, so begs the question as to why they would have vac formed such a piece as injection moulding gives a much stronger and beeter quality piece, unless it was used in a mock up, display or to use as base for another piece, like the Cruiser engine.

I'll sort out an image to show. It's worth mentioning this was in amoungst the Boffin - but does not 100% that this was intended for Action Force.

Dave.
sorry this has taken a while to sort out, but the office machine has all the pics and usually log on to the forum from home, but here we are:

From the looks of the part, it looks like it could have been for some kind of hatch maybe? There are hinges with arrows drawn on, which might indicate where this piece might have connected with another piece?
Either way, it's pretty cool, and may have been used for a mock up or formed the basis of something else.

Dave.
