Displaying figures

Post by Chopper »

G'day all, just a couple of quick questions for the display experts. I am now the proud owner of a MOC Shark figure (thanks to Paul463) and have a couple of display issues that need resolving. In the last month I have had 2 devastating accidents, dropped my Shads bazooka and I'm pretty sure its wound up in the vacuous nether. Then dropped my Roadblock V1 breaking his foot. Roadblock went to the medics and came up OK, but he'll never be the same again. Needless to say I'd like to avoid further disasters.

Whenever something precarious is moved its like Cambodia and Laos (the domino effect) all over again. So.... where is the best place to get figure stands? Are they even a good idea? Are they suitable for AF and pre AF figures? What are those clear plastic card back holders called? Where can they be obtained?

Finally my Euro Z corps Breaker's glue has started to give way, I'm assuming due to Melbourne's complete lack of humidity and 40+ summers. What is the best way to re-glue without pulling the bubble off?

Dammit, gotta stop playing with that snow... must post.

These are the ones I use: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Modern-Saga-S ... 240%3A1318

Seller is a cracking bloke, we went through a string of e-mails and testers before settling on the right stand for AF, he always sends replacements and so on with no questions asked.

I note the auctions are UK only, but I'm pretty sure if you ask he'll ship to Australia. If not, LMK and I'll happily act as a go-between.

Lol, thanks Muton. Will do. That made me laugh. Wonder if ASIO are reading this ;)

Thanks Baron too, I'll check up on that.

Mark,

I use these Star cases

They are cheap and do the job well.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

avoiding the dominoe effect is half the fun ( stress ) of putting up the display

I just free-stand and hope for the best. At least hardy Palitoy AF figures won't break when they (inevitably) topple - the Joe/AF series are so fragile that I keep them in a box.

I couldn't believe how brittle Roadblocks foot was. I didn't cry tho. One goes over and they all follow, like sheep.

Baron, is there a trick to the stands? Peg size I'm assuming? Just asking as getting them from the US is usually a lot cheaper than from the UK. Or is it better to just go with what works do you think?

That link is the only stand I have found that fits the straight-legged Shadow-era figs. For Roadblock etc you'll be better iff getting regular Joe stands form the US I expect. Yep, they have smaller pegs, same size as the moulded pegs on the :zforce: APC and Jeep and the :sas: Boat Patrol
