I was wondering if I' the only board member who wasn't in to Star Wars when they were a kid? Enjoyed the films but never got in to the figures. I've seen some cracking Star Wars collections on here, for some collectors they seem to go hand in hand. I was mainly in to AF and scale aircraft modelling (still am with about 40 or so kits still to build!).

My best mate across the street was into his S.W but i stuck with the mighty Action Force
Found them to be more realistic and better for ground wars, could also be down to the fact that my parents bought me the cardboard A.F base and it went on from there.
I was always into painting the little 1/72 military figures so mom and pop must have kept with the military theme at Christmas, they were the ones with the cash and buying power back then.

It was actually SW figures that got me into ACTION FORCE in a way. I loved collecting Action Man in the 1970's, but their size & price limited how many I could have. Along came SW figures and they became my main collectable, as I could own a lot more for less. My love of 3 3/4 inch action figures was born!
When AF came along I had the best of both worlds - Small scale but a military theme. Never looked back since!
I must admit that I've gone right off STAR WARS (in all it's forms) these last few years. The only one I can watch now is Episode IV and it's the only one I have on DVD. I'm not interested in the figures at all.

I loved playing with Star Wars, but it was my mates Star Wars - all I ever had was the Max Band set (got it cheap - no idea where it went though! Doh!). It was AF all the way for me in my personal collection.

I did buy said mates SW colelction when we were 18 though, for £30, so the base of my current collection is actually the ones I played with as a kid - just weren't mine then! Tried to build a bit of a SW collection since, to compliment it, but sort of given up, as was getting in the way of AF collecting!

Same as Crimson Rage, I had Action Man dolls and couldn't afford to get what I wanted (which was quite a bit in hindsight). I was a SW nut from the word go, 1977. My son and I have a reasonable played with collection. A few rare ones. I was a reader of Battle, then AF came along. The rest is history. AF was good in that it had a certain level of realism, I liked that. Probably why SAS is my favourite. I have a whole shelf of SW DVD's, fan edits, Bootlegs, GL cuts, documentaries and wot not. Also spin off's (Ewoks, Droids, Clone Wars), not to mention the other brilliant GL works. Indiana Jones, THX 1138, Willow, American Grafitti and Howard the Duck;-)

It all started with Action Man when I was very small boy,my gran visited one day with a A.M. Helicopter pilot as a suprise present..I still remember that wonderful box artwork with the magic words "Palitoy"...& that was that, toys have been a life-long passion!
From A.M. I went to playing with/collecting Star Wars figures, then Transformers..mainly Sci-Fi type toys.Action Force was always in the background,I started to read the (U.S) G.I.Joe comics as a teenager, saw the link with our U.K. A.F toys, this was around that time Hasbro reluanched the line, & you could get the last "old stock" Palitoy stuff at knock down prices from them cheap sea-side toy shops (anyone remember Great Yarmouth around the late 80's?)So another of my lifelong collections began!
I only got really interested in the "Star Wars" type jointed figures after discovering this site!
Over the years I'd had lots of A.F. figures turn up in the box loads of toys you always "have!" to buy from boot sales, you know the sort of thing, you only want one tiny weapon/vital piece, but the seller refuses to spilt the box so you come home loads of stuff!
I only really wanted to match the right bits to the right figures, and got hooked on them,so yet another collection has begun!

never really interested in the star wars figures always played stick guns on the local building site causing havoc until i was introduced to action force by my auntie who wasnt my auntie!!!!!!!!!!! as she worked in the kingdom of palitoy but i always remember going round a friends house positioning his star wars figures around his bedroom then pinging elastic bands at them to kill them each to there own at the end of the day but action force played second fiddle to them in a lot of kids eyes the power of george lucas swine why didnt you make a film about the baron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! saying that i like looking at peoples collections what ever they collect

i was never really into SW myself. i think because i grew up with it and it was everywhere it wasnt a big thing to me.
when i was younger he-man toys were the thing. didnt really get into SW until i was 17 and bought a load of figs from a mate.
watched empire for the first time then too and was really blown away. sold all my vintage SW toys a couple of years ago and gave all my modern figs to my kids. once my AF collection is complete i plan to collect the vintage figs again.

I almost ignored this thread because I don't like Star Wars so I wasn't going to read it.
I liked the movies just fine when I was a kid, but was never "into" them. I had a couple of the figs when I was a kid because they were clearanced down next to nothing at the time. But it has been all about GI Joe for me.
