I spray, I undercoat first and lacquer afterwrards - both with Plastikote. I just wish they did a Z Force green!

I personally don't, I carefully disassemble the kit first and spray whole pieces.

However, cover EVERYTHING with newspaper or plastic as you'll find spray painting leaves a thin dry powder everywhere!

Aah well, why I'm asking is for a figure custom.
It's a red shadow variant, but to be honest if I can spray him red, then paint in the belt boots etc. it'll be fine!

I've not tried spraying a figure, now that might be tricky! You'll probably be better off using a brush I expect.

I've just finished spraying the figure with the plastikote bright Red, and it is indeed a very good match for a brand new out the box shadow!
Unfortunately they don't do a brush on jar of this colour, so i've sprayed some into a jar to see if it'll work, but I think it'll probably be a bit thin. What is the closest humbrol match that anyone has found?

I expect it'll dry in the jar very quickly.

I use an undercoat of humbrol gloss red then an overcoat of satin signal red. THe signal red on its own is to oorangey...

There is a gloss red plastikote enamel in a glass jar, its a pretty good match for the spray but can be diffiult to work with...

Spraying into a jar works ok! just let the cfc's out! and wear a mask. It is thin though and needs a couple of coats, but very useful for 'touching up' in the non-sexual harrassment kind of way.

Resurrecting a very old thread, I know, but has anyone any recommendations for a "flexible" paint?

I have (amongst other things) some rubber trench coats to paint red (not full sized ones - that would be a bit 'gimpy') but they need to bend and flex, so I'm worried any normal paint might just crack off. Does plasticote have an element of flex to it?
