Keep RoboSkull v2 or convert to RoboSkull v1?

Post by OllyOrc »

I rarely see Cobra RoboSkulls v2 for sale compared with the Red Shadow RoboSkull v1. So are they rare and worth keeping as version 2, as I would like to convert to version 1 using the reproduction stickers but don't want to ruin a potential collectable ?

"V2 or not V2 that is the question"

Thanks

You know I've never seen a v2 roboskull, what are the stickers like?
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Apologies for any confusion but the 3rd Roboskull from the left is the Cobra version or what I called a RoboSkull v2 (not meaning a newer version 2 of the Cobra RoboSkull which would be a v3)

Replacement stickers are available from the usual place but I don't really want to literally scrub off any value if it's particularly rare, by removing the original Cobra stickers and swapping them with reproduction Red Shadow decals

I've only seen the Cobra Roboskull on Baron's toy listings, piloted by Red Wolf v2 as they don't appear that often on Ebay, so wondered if they were scarce and more desirable?

Having now just looked (sorry Jim) in the archives I've seen one too. Stickers don't do much for it.

Oh, it was deffo meant to be v1. It just screams Red Shadow! The 'Cobraskull' was only released as factory overstock.

However, if you have multiple Roboskulls and also collect Palitoy Cobra, it might be worth keeping as is.

Yep, it's a bit of a dilemma as was getting slightly too old for Series 3 Cobra stuff, especially when it got a bit silly Hasbro/GI Joe (Snowjob etc.. sorry all, full respect intended) but did love the classic Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. So collect only original Action Man/Force and Series 2 RedShadow/ZForce/SAS etc. (so far...although have acquired most of the Series 3 figures & vehicles along the way in job lots, but hoping to resell one day soon)

Just didn't want to kick myself later for converting it back to a Red Shadow RoboSkull V1 if it was a rare/expensive Cobra version 2 but doesn't sound like it is.

May keep it as is for awhile and use in the background for any future dioramas inspired by the comics

Thanks

ps. (Never start off buying an incomplete RoboSkull as you may end up with more partial ones whilst trying to complete a whole one and then end up purchasing a complete one through impatience, 2 out of 4 now done but trapped in a cycle - hehe)

:)

Like you I was too old for series 3, but now as a collector I want to get it, it is hard to find though!

Well, the Palitoy Cobra vehicles all came with a single generic sticket sheet that covered the entire range - so if you did regret unstickering it, vintage sheets are pretty easy to come by.
