Greetings from Holland

Post by Ironhide »

Hello everyone,

My name is Erwin and I'm from the Netherlands. In my youth, I really enjoyed playing with G.I.Joe (and Transformers, hence the handle) and through the combination of my love for G.I.Joe and wanting to maximize my allowance came into possession of quite a few Action Force figures as well.

Like so many of you, I enjoyed the newness and lack of background story as all I knew were the G.I.Joe cartoons on Sky Channel, so these figures like Steeler, Quarrel and Stalker could be anyone I wanted them to be. Plus, in the final days of Palitoy I managed to buy a lot of cheap G.I.Joe figures in those 4-in-1 Action Figures packages.

Unfortunately I'm no collector. Not enough room in my house, not enough cash and too many other time consuming hobbies like my loving girlfriend, sports and a love for retro computers (particularly the demoscene, should this ring any bells). Last week I helped my parents clean up their attic and found my old G.I.Joe and Transformers collections, including all the AF figures. I kinda wish I could keep them and start collecting them, but I have decided to sell it all.

In trying to figure out what I have, I stumbled upon this website and boy am I glad I did! The amount of knowledge pooled here is incredible, and the love for the collection is almost palpable :) So I want to sell it all and help as many fans out as I can. For instance, Chopper mentioned somewhere not too many months ago he misses a Dolphin v2 for his collection. I have one. The transparent visor was never in the box (4-in-1 Action Figures), but it is complete with bazooka, helmet and backpack. The paint is gone at some of the edges, but it is in pretty good shape otherwise. So he can have mine if he wants it... and I am sure there's many more.

Too bad I didn't find this a few months sooner. I was in Melbourne this October, could have just handed the thing to him! :)

Cheers,
Erwin/Ironhide

Hello and welcome ;D
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

:welcome: I am sure Chopper will be very happy to hear about Dolphine :)

If you post a list and some pictures in the Spares section I am sure someone on here can help you to find a new safe home for your collection :)
Best Regards

Cool stuff man, thanks for posting. Get a list going (or pictures if you want the guys to identify stuff for you - **they'll love it!!**)

By the way, I'm loving the way you list your loving girlfriend under 'time consuming hobbies' - shame you are not into collecting AF, you'd fit in around here!!! :)

G'day, and many thanks for the thought. I now have a Dolphin V2, thanks to the other Ducthman on the site, Niels. Pity you didn't LMK you were coming, I'd have shouted you a pint. ;-)

Anyway, welcome to the crue, rifle in and enjoy.
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!

:welcome: Have you noticed the names in common between some Joes and Transformers? (for example Shockwave)
