Finally got a booted variant of the SAS Frogman (T3 & T4), and managed to get round to describing it properly.
SAS Frogman T3 & T4
It seems to be a Second Phase type, in that it has a hard plastic similar to all the others. Palitoy simply changed the plastic recipe, as we have discussed previously. It has a round left hand, rather than the flatter kind found in the T1 and T2 versions, and in common with the other Second Phase figures, it uses the better quality paint. It has a curvy belt rather than the straight belt of the T1 & T2, which itself recalls the curvy belt of the Z Force Infantryman T2 and Z Force Medic T2. Obviously, it has the boot foot not the defined toes.
Immediate ID Features: Booted Foot, Curvy Belt, Round Left Hand.
In the photo below, the T3 Frogman is on the left, the T1 is on the right.
I hope this description will allow you to identify the figure from crappy ebay photographs now, especially as they often have their flippers on.

Hands that grip.
"I'm healed... it's a miracle! Praise Jeepus! Hallelujah!"
He is very much a Second Phase figure - curvy belt and harder plastic, and very interesting too.
I have never seen, nor heard about, a
with boot feet.
I have a list of 'potential' variants for which there is no evidence, yet, and he is very much on it.
It may be that they moulded a set amount in Series One (say, 2000 for argument's sake), and that they continued to use the figure for the new Action Force series. When these ran out they needed to re-mould some more - the Phase Two figure. They also moulded the same number at the launch of Action Force for
, but these never ran out, so no need for a re-mould.
I also suspect that he never sold as many as the SAS version of that figure - especially given that they were given away with Battle Action Force (the SAS version).
But then Aqua Trooper/Shark was also available carded, and boxed with Stingray - that must have added up to a fair number of figures sold - so who knows.
Palitoy is an enigma!
