I think the original threads was lost in the crash.
Every bazooka has a single digit number moulded onto its handle, this must be some form of tooling reference on Hasbro's part.
I can't remember exactly if the number series goes all the way up to nine or not.

This opens a whole new Pandora's Box of variation collecting, are all the Bazookas with the same number exactly the same? Are differently numbered Bazookas all slightly different to each other? Add into the mix that Bazookas are available in both soft & hard plastic... this should keep you nice & busy for a while

Let's not forget, amid the many and various canonical muck and oomscar issues such as the single digit marking, that the "bazooka" is in fact modeled on the precursor of the FIM-92 Stinger MANPAD, the FIM-43 Red Eye, fire & forget man portable IR man portable surface to air missile





Again we are again face to face with the issue that the designers of - and BAF artists - were smack on the Cold War button.

Cheers, I hadn't realised these were based upon a real weapon.

Hasbro referred to Zap, the figure from where this accessory originated from, referred to him as being a Bazooka Soldier so just assumed it was a Bazooka.

It's always seemed a strange choice of weapon, I know these are toys but, an AK-47 would seem a more natural choice for a suicidal fanatic..

You can imagine the OCD-reverse ex post facto blugginses'-cartwheels that affected my youth on the issue.

But the Zap thing - gotta check that out. Guessing this means we have an analog out there or similar - maybe it was the Yankees wot first enforced this most and very fungible anti-dirigible upon us all. Y'all.

In Mark Bellomo's (superb) G.I.Joe guide book Zap's write-up mentions that the term Bazooka has been obsolete since WWII.

I suppose, from a kids perspective, a Bazooka is still a impressive looking piece of kit for a toy soldier to tote around the battlefield... beside for the Red Shadows I've always imagined it as being some sort of big ass laser/sonic cannon type sci-fi like affair.

The Bazooka was obsolete post-Korea. Perhaps not before the genius Swedes invented the Carl Gustav (RIP c. 1982) as the practical Panzerfaust derivative (and some other proto-TOW thing one forgets) ...

... And the genius millionaire who fired a Bazook against his shoulder whilst filming it for effect c. 1960 something [*]history does not record the complications involved... maybe it's utubed now...

This brings us back to the fundamental issue of 1) Zap 2) Joe historiography 3) the fundamental issue of WTF in MW1+2 RPG mode with a MANPAD 4) relation of Zap to

Issue 4) might impact on the aforementioned numbering observation.
