He was the perfect narrator for this:
Rip Richie :(
Re: Rip Richie :(
I've been in rather a foul mood ever since I heard this news. The Young Ones in particular was a huge part of my life as a kid. I have two older brothers who were obsessed with the show. They used to talk as Rick and Vivian all the time. Most of the humour went over my head as I was a little too young for it, but perhaps their hysterical laughter rubbed off on me, besides there was always enough quality slapstick to go around! I've watched the shows hundreds of times over the years and truly believe they were a turning point in TV comedy.
When I stop and think about it most of the interaction I have even now with my brothers is really effected by The Young Ones, Filthy Rich & Catflap and Bottom. We often slag each other off for being 'Mind numbingly boring' refer to all Milkmen as 'Bastards who deserve to die' or recite other lines from the shows, or perhaps generally mimic the smashing each other with a frying pan thing whenever we are back in Mum's kitchen together.
I'm truly gutted about this passing and I'm grateful that Rik Mayall gave us so many laughs as a family.......

Re: Rip Richie :(
Truly a case of passing away much before their time.
We went to see Ade's group "The Bad Shepherds" in Middlewich, Cheshire last Friday and it was dedicated to Rik's passing away. Ade made several comments about it being a bit of a f@~king bad week for him in the circumstances but still managed to put the show on in his memory.
Several of the stories were great but the best one was one of his last photos being in the papers walking his wife's dog. (Ade's exact words were "Walking that little sh#t and being photographed Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!) and raising a glass to him.
Lord Flasheart, Richie, Alan, Fred, Peeves etc etc you shall be missed dearly..........
Best quote ever by Flasheart - "Treat your woman like your plane............get in her five times a day and take her to heaven and back!"
RIP
