Got Back from Birmingham. Bit shocked to say the least.
The recruitment agent did even know what I was talking about when I started talking about lathes.
She asked what Medical Engineering got to do with Milling and Turning :s She asked me how much I wanted and how much I was earning. I told her I was Earning €14 an hour at Apple Computers when I left. She asked me which was worth more Euro or Sterling.
She offered me min wage on a four week contract.

I think I want to be further south when I try again.

I'm guessing you're from an engineering / machining background then? Why not try a job in F1? Caterham are hiring http://www.caterhamf1.com/careers for all sorts of posts, I'm sure the other teams are, or look further down the ladder at GP2 and GP3 teams, Formula Ford, etc.

Honest I am going to take the Milling and Turing night course at home.
Going to try next summer again. Was a little disapointed with the Irish Center and the Freemasons. Thought both would push the boat out a little more

Both met me and were nice to meet but I expected a little more especially from the Irish Center. I am a Master Mason and Senior Deacon at home. I was hoping the Irish center "owned" a few recruiting agents.

Isn't the Irish centre in Brum just a glorified pub?

Yeah it was .... It wasnt even anything like an Irish Pub! I have never seen a slot machine in an Irish Pub. Whats the deal with playing Boyzone?!?!? I had my dinner and left.

Then there is the Irish Interpretive center about 300 meters away next to the Church. They were decent there and helped me printing CVs. A Decent priest told me to go home that the place was swamped with unskilled workers and investors were unwilling to invest money. Come back to the UK later but not to Birmingham.

Lads, like a lot of ye done my time with the reserve army. Been on the Border during the Foot and mouth disease epidemic, done cash and arms escorts, been over to Newry and seen the Upper West side of Manhattan, Helped a Brother Freemason once or twice with "Difficult enquiries" never asking questions. I live in a backward part of Ireland. I never felt unsafe until I came to Birmingham. We'll leave it at that.

I will probably go again in a year, when I have more Cash
