'Playing' with your figures

What's the point of having all these toys if you don't play with 'em?

Couldn't agree more - which is why I stay away from MOC/MISB (that and the expense!)

I can play imaginatively, but not in the way that I used to, where I would literally be absorbed for hours, acting out different scenarios with the figures and vehicles and actually involving myself in their world, an almost living world of my creation.
Also doing this with mates; I can't imagine doing this now with my friends, not even with any of you equally deranged specimens who actually share my obsession!

Yeah, there is definitely a nostalgia-tinged element to my collecting! And a sense of trying to recapture the carefree time spent playing for playing's sake!

How about making one of those "Warhammer"-style games but using AF items instead? I know that you would need a much larger board/setup but how cool would that be?

Man, I hated playing War Hammer.... too many damn numbers & rules to remember, I've a terrible memory, crap @ maths & have a terrible memory.

As an improv actor it takes a hell of a lot of training to (partly) regain those abilities. Some abilities are lost forever. In some cases on stage you are easily beaten by a three year old.

I totally threw a couple of highly experienced improv comedy performers completely off their balance once.

After they'd chosen the situation (given by the audience) they then asked for a style... so I shouted out "Improv !".
The great Paul Merton (a comedy hero to myself) was in charge of the proceedings said "O.K. lets go for it"
Cue two people on stage scratching their heads & looking @ each other in total confusion.

Seriously, that's actually a great suggestion! Too many time I hear the same stuff over and over (and over) again. People aren't as creative as they think they are.

I've seen a fair few comedy gigs over the years & most performers do seem to stick to old 'favorites', be they improv or traditional stand ups, from their bank of 'off the cuff remarks'.

In fact, bor me is easier to improv rather than plan the story ahead. I tried to turn my played stories ito the more mature art of dio-stories, bu it isn't the same (which doesn't mean I stopped making dio-stories, just that I play "live" more often).
