New Zealand/Aussie and Toltoys

Post by Chopper »

Palitoy AF never made it to NZ, we had Action Man figures (3.25 and 12 inch). These were repackaged Hasbro joe's in the early 80's. I have quite a few and supplemented my collection with earlier Action Force proper by trading with friends who had been to the UK or had relitives there. Also the free figures in BAF were a real boon. Usually the freebies never made it that far south. I remember the day I walked into the book store and there were stacks of BAF with AF figures in little baggies. I spent all my pocket money on every figure I could get my hands on. I picked up Eagle, Breaker, Skip and Tracker iirc, maybe more.

Down here we get naff all in the way of figures mostly just left over joes from the late 80's (aka trash). I scored a heap of vehicles for $20au this week (about 7 pounds) including an original Joe APC. Needless to say the fun has begun anew.

Does anyone have any info on Toltoys figures? Ther seems to be near nothing on the web. I do wish I'd kept the cardbacks now

Chopper, hi! Thanks for the post! Good memories!!! The Toltoys Action Man/Action Force lines are some of my favorite "off the beaten path" toy lines!

The 12" figures had some very unusual characteristics including often mixing GI Joe and Action Man items together - producing very unique outfits and figures!

The 3 3/4" line had wonderful packaging! So cool to see the Action Man logo on the early GI Joe figures!

I am still looking for a few boxed vehicles (JUMP, FLAK...). If you know of anyone selling them, please let me know.

Take care,
Aire

I never noticed at the time. I had an Action man 12" (Hasbro made in Hong kong) came in a UK style box with differnt uniforms and things to the UK. It really was a mixture of US and UK. I have noticed that alot of the uniform's wern't complete. I.e. no webbing or gators etc. Cost cutting I'm assuming.

i have about a dozen pre-joe Action men 3.5" figures. There really is no way to tell them apart from their US counterparts tho.

If I find hordes of stuff on my holiday back to NZ I'll let you know;-)

Cheers

Yeah, thats them tracks. Its also about the only info I can find on the net. I'll be in NZ next week so I'll keep my eyes peeled for junk stores I think.

The 12" AM figures were probably the most unusual. They were GI Joe with AM packaging and mixtures of Palitoy and Hasbro uniforms. Mines dated 1975;-)
