Firefight's Friday Fancies

Post by firefight »

What's happening People?
I'll tell you what's happening; I thought I might contribute a little more to this site (not just give amazing deals ;) ) and start posting some pictures of my collection and the like.
I may make this a weekly thing ('cause I don't have everything photographed yet) hence the Subject moniker.-It's also a pretty catchy name too :-D ) . I mainly have a custom collection so all you cardboard box lovers out there, this probably aint for you. :neerneer: :flame:
This week I bring you some recent acquisitions of mine for you lucky people to admire ;) .

I went back to the secret comic book stash place(I've mentioned it before) and got me some more of "THE TOP PAPER FOR TOUGH STORIES!".

Found this, thought it might be worth a few quid; I was right...about £3 to be precise. Still, it's quite a nice thing.

Thanks :) . There are a few too many doubles though for my liking, I'd like to swap out some of the Ready Salted and Prawn Coctails for some Steak & Onion; Then I'd have a tasty collection.

So, here we are, back again for the second installment of F.F.F.
I'll be honest, it almost didn't happen but after working late into the night I've managed to put together a line-up for your delectation.
I had a terrific response last week, well from meertoh of the Emerald Isle, so this is just for you my good man.

Ridged for your pleasure. If there is ever a potato famine again, give me a call and I'll send some over. No one should only have the option of only eating salted maize snacks.
So, getting down to business, what did I say was going to be on todays line-up?, oh yes, a Ferret. You will be glad (or perhaps not) to see that this is of the vehicular variety. Also pictured is a cool new Scrap Iron figure. A-F-S, take a bow.

Time for the Tits. I couldn't get my hands on the pair that I really wanted ( I could have made a joke here about Angelina Jolie, but I'm going to keep things classy), so these bazoomas will have to suffice. It seems like you're never more than an "accidental" click away from GI Joe porn on the internets.

The "boob tackle" one in particular made me titter (no pun intended, but it works).
And last but not least, the tanks. Technically this isn't a tank ; it's a self propelled anti-aircraft gun or spaag, but I didn't think anyone (well SteveD) would notice the difference.
Apparently, a tank is designed to directly engage other armour, whereas a self propelled gun is a canon or howitzer mounted on a chassis with a motor so that it does not have to be towed. - so there you go.

This could just as easily ( well a lot more easily actually) have been a SAS Wolverine custom, but then again who can afford two Hunter figures?

Well, that about wraps things up for this week. On next week's F.F.F... Meet the Ironbloods, Rock out with yer 'Nok out, and much, much more. Though, like my near namesake Firefly, I demand payment in advance and make no promises.

Cool mate. I have a spare Wolverine that I have been trying to come up with custom ideas for so I may copy this slightly.

My lawyers will be watching you closely :. I'm just messing, glad I could be of inspiration. :)
I was originally going to use two Dragonfly guns -one either side but I realised that one of them would be upside down :duh: . Another idea was to use a pair of Panther guns to give it that quad gun look.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
cheers,
firefight.

It's Friday again, (that seemed to come around quick) and so the saga continues..
Todays episode is something of a custom figure special. Now, bear in mind all of these customs are many years old and some have sustained quite a bit of paint wear during that time (no, I couldn't be bothered to fix them up, not even for F.F.F). I'm more of an ideas person than a technician. Anyway, speaking of special figures, this Baroness Ironblood certainly has one. Decent articulation -not so much.

Watch out Action Force, this Kitty has claws! Some of you may already be familiar with her ample chest..

She is an Agent Anika figure from Guru-Planet. I thought she would make a cool counterpart to my custom Baron Ironblood figure.
ironblood front.jpg

Recipe:
Head- Baron Ironblood (Palitoy)
torso - Cobra Commander '82-'83
arms and waist - Crimson Guard '85
legs - Destro '83
I went for a younger more eastern influenced look (hence the Samurai blade). I was going to make a Japanese styled mask or helmet but it was beyond even my skill. ;)

I used some magnets to hold the weapons in place.

Now from the sublime to the slightly ridiculous. The Drednok they call Spinal Tap.

head - Gung-ho '83

legs - Buzzer '84

I was going to make the chaps assless but I didn't want to upset*/excite* Gung-hoeddie too much.(*delete where appropriate ;) )

Here is my.. some would say controversial version of Zartan. Well, he does have the ability to change colour doesn't he?

This custom figure didn't get a cool, frosty reception from the fans.. :drumroll: :oneoutoften:
firefly.jpg
firefly.jpg (100.39 KiB) Viewed 440 times
Recipe:
head - Q-Force Sonar Officer (palitoy)
torso - Stinger Driver '82-'83
arms and waist- Airtight '85
upper legs - Frostbite '85
lower legs - Roadblock '86

This figure might have made me a laudable contender back in the day  pre- 25th anniversary. It has removable knife, magazines, pistol ect. Today, well it's just an esoteric o-ring custom I suppose. :-D

And so that concludes this weeks F.F.F. Next week I'm probably thinking boring old tanks, but if you want to see something much cooler then you will have to buy my Lego sets... help me, help you. ;)
cheers,
firefight.

I'd defy anyone to avoid wood when confronted by such a spectacular chest as that!
