Battle Action Force Comics - Filling The Gaps

Post by slippy »

Missing in Action. Or more accurately, Battle Action (Force)

Okay, hope this is the right place for this kinda tale of woe, etc, etc. Casting my mind back to when my hair was soft, I had freckles and I didn't have to worry about writing creative tenders for tomorrow morning instead of posting on message forums (eek!), I was happy being a comic book fan. Sadly, after getting Battle and Battle Action Force comics every week from the local paper shop as an 8 year old kid with my curly wurly/sherbert dab/other psychodelic sweet, I then find out years later that the majority of the issues went the way of boring old common shite paper... and used as padding for when my parents moved home out of Cornwall!!!

Utterly ridiculous but true - with only a few left to salvage amongst crockery and teddy bears.....

As a result, I've been trying to rebuild the collection like many others during the last few years, but finally think I need to either give up or crack it once and for all.

So, before I end up buying shed loads of (mostly useless) bulk lots from other fans and eBay - I wanted to see if anyone here had any single issues for sale or trade that I need to complete my set once more..... I've got a fair few doubles of issues too, so maybe I can plug some holes this way and help others out. Or at least throw some paypal goodness your way!

I know we've got the fantastic CBR resource of digital Battle Action Force comics copies here on the site and via torrent, as well as the ongoing colouring project from a lot of you guys to look at.... but call me an old fashioned OCD type of guy - I still love to have the originals too.
:nobokov:

Anyhow, here's my list - please hit me up if anyone can help, otherwise I'll keep twitching on eBay and at comic fairs for the next few months!

Slippy, I navigated those murky waters myself in 2001, and take it from me I didn't find a single issue of Battle at one comic convention, shop or mart. The only two places are ebay and http://www.26pigs.com.

Best thing I found was to contact other bidders on Battle auctions and offer swaps, but I think ebay may have crippled this option with the new username asterisks - does anyone know a way around this?

Don;t forget the Battle printers strike of 1980! I spent ages looking for comics that don't exist: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/blood/battle.html

Last week i put some FOC comics up, TKW grabbed them, the Battle one i sent was the last one on your list, 27/12/86. Perhaps if you ask him very nicely he might be tempted to sell it on!

LOL yeah, I crayoned that one as a kid!

Hmmm, maybe the crayoned versions would be OK for the book? I'll try scanning them and cleaning them up.
