Dettol paint removing

I can't find TKW's original post about this but I've been experienting with good results. I found that neat Dettol was attacking the plastic slightly so I've diluted it. I tried 50/50 first which was ok but I still had tacky plastic so I've gone roughly 30% Dettol and 70% water and found this works really well. I also soak the stripped object in water after to remove any dettol residue. I also found a little warm water with fairy liquid type soap will remove the residue.

Will try your tips as I always have a problem with guck which is hard to remove using neat dettol. Is this for factory paint removal or just hand painted stuff?

Hand paint I always use mr muscle oven cleaner with 100% results, sprayed items I always use Dot 4 brake fluid with similar results.

Factory stuff mate. If it do get any damage then I sand lightly with some finishing paper then polish with cotton wool and car scratch remover.

For hand paint removal, the best result I get is with engine degreaser. It works perfectly and doesn't effect the factory paint.

Oven cleaner (Mr. Muscle) works well for hand painted stuff, just spray it on, let it foam and sit for a an hour then rinse well.
