German series 1 third variant?

Post by SteveD »

I was up in the loft earlier and think I've got a third slight variant of the German series 1 figure.

There's already the one with logos on the side of his helmet, and the one without. But I just realised of my "without" ones one has a black chin strap, one has a grey one. A minor detail, I know, but interested to see what versions other folks have??

Honestly, it wasn't that hard to spot. I was sat waiting for the grey paint to dry on it, thinking "you know what....."

Na, in reality I always give then a thorough scrutiny when they're side by side, espe silly if one is from my spares pile, just to make surei don't accidentally get rid of a variant!

i do the same thing Steve, but what i am really bad about is comparing cardbacks.
there are alot of cardbacks that look the same but are diffrent but you have to look close to sport the odd piece out. well done. i am going to have a check tonight

Just checked the four spares I have lying around (all without the helmet decal) - they appear to all have black helmet straps, although half of one looks grey. I wonder if the colour beneath was grey (like the helmet) and so yours (and half of one of mine), just got missed in the black paint run? My others are amongst the mess that was once my collection room!

Have we ever established which version of :german: is the the most common or the reason for the lack of helmet insignia?

The most obvious theory, for the lack of insignia, is for reasons of cost cutting or simplification of production..but could it not of been the case that the insignia was a later addition which wasn't in production for very long?

Logo one is definitely harder to come be. I'd say by a ratio of over 10:1.

So I have to get 8 more non logo ones before I hit the variant jackpot?
