car boot sales

Post by captainwatts »

just wondered if anyone here ever manages to find any AF through non ebay routes, such as car boot sales.

i can honestly say i have never been to one before, and the wife is far from keen on following me around while i hunt through peoples unwanted bits and pieces.
however the thought of finding a bargain or 2 is seroiusly tempting me at the mo,especially as i am on a weeks holiday and actually have a weekend off.a precious thing for a retail manager.

will it be worth a look or is everyone out there ebay savy nowadays?

There was a big regular local one near Newport where I hear a guy had a few boxed A.F items.
Bad news is that it has since been disbanded due to too much traffic on the nearby roundabout.
Fecking killjoy council .

Go for it - I'm still grinning at Skyline's charity shop find from last summer: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/phpbb2/ ... =26&t=1378

Absolutely you can still find stuff at the car boots! A couple of years ago I got my boxed Z Force Tank with Steeler, complete , Excellent condition for £5 at a car boot in Gerrard's Cross.

The funny thing was i was just in the middle of reminding my dear lady of the time when I got a boxed 1987 Persuader tank for £3 at Denham Giant Car boot sale (She was enthralled as you can imagine!) . Literally, just as I said " I will probably never find another boxed vehicle at a car boot ever again" I looked down and saw the Z force tank. I just couldn't believe it! I did an Academy Award winning performance of 'not knowing what it was' to the bloke selling it' and he let me have it for a fiver! Also, he flipped the box over to 'show me' what else was available in the AF range and pointed at the SAS Panther Jeep with Stalker saying " I've got that one at home too, but I can't bare to part with it".

It was a dream come true for me. I'm only sad t o say that most people are eBay aware, and as I'm sure you have noticed will stick any old crap on there under the title 'Rare Action Force Figures'. I haven't had anything good from a Car Boot in ages now. You never know though?!?

Good hunting to you my friends. :steeler: :steeler: :steeler:

I used to vist carboot sales all the the time, or more accurately "flea markets" as all our local ones are indoors. Trouble is I'm a bit of an obsessive perfectionist, so while I often found figures there, they were always lacking (paint wear, accessories missing) so I tended to leave them on the 'shelf'.

It's always a bit embarassing when you're digging through a huge box of crappy figures in the hopes of finding a decent AF character and the person on the stall says you can "have the whole box for a tenner". Pretty expensive when the majority of items in the box are usually "Happy Meal" toys of some kind...!

Funny enough, I bought a large box of "action Figures" from Feebay a few months ago, because I spotted a Red Shadow poking out the top.
There`s me thinking there could be a few more in there but no, about 99% happy meal specials
Great for when the little relatives come round though, just tell them to have a dig in that toy box and take what they want :).

Boot Sales and Flee Market used to be really cool place to hunt figures.

Nowadays even my granny knows her way around eBay. Anything that looks valuable/collectable is sold via internet, the leftover crap is sold the old fashion way. Another thing is that 90% of visitors of flee markets are selling stuff on the internet as well. Half an hour after opening all the good findings are gone. The last five years I only found a handfull of good figures.
