How about some air support for Z Force?
I think this would have been cool

http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/97/thunderbolt/

Now I think about it, there was a land assualt team, a space team, a special forces team and a sea team but no air. Now an air unit, that would have been cool. It seems apart from that little helicoptor for the SAS guys there was no air support for action force, what were the parachute guys for, jumping off a tall building.

There were probably later releases for the AF range where they addressed this but for the first few waves there was nothing, it would of been great to see the roboskull up against a few harriers or black op hueys with some drop ropes for the sas force to get them behind enemy lines. :sas:

How to make Q Force useful...

This one would have been great mainly because its huge and would of cheesed off parents who had to try and find a place to keep it in the home. Just look at the pic in the corner with the kids playing with it, it looks massive

http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/85/ussfla ... _box.shtml

is this the biggest playset?

Until I started looking at the gi joe galleries at yojoe I hadn't realised exactly how short changed we were with the action force vehicles range.

Action Force - Air Force

Post by steve »

We had some discussion on this way back....
....but it is such a cool subject it deserves another airing 8)

Anoher question is how would it work? Would it be a seperate force, or would the forces control aircraft that they need for their role?

To echo your comments I'd love to see a Z Force Harrier and A-10

For SAS Force something like a Huey would indeed be cool. How about AH-1 Cobras in SAS Force colours to escort the troop carriers (and to give Chopper something to do :chopper: )?

For Q Force I'd like to see a Sea King (I'm keeping in period with the 1980's here) and also one of the big Soviet Jet Seaplanes that Beriev was working on the cold war ended.

I think the model for the Z and SAS force should be the USMC, all the aircraft they need for support are part of the same force structure.

I did some quick CG images back then of a Hercules transport in various colours, as well as a Z Force Puma, they are still online:

I also couldn't leave out Space Force, so I gave them the Air Superiority mission, and a good old EE/BAC Lightning
http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/phpbb2/ ... .php?t=197

I'll do some more of these when I get some spare time again (some hope), I've got a CGI Red Shadow Hind Gunship half built, and I really do want to finish that off.

Graeme was going to have a go at some model customs, but I'm not sure if he got time to do any, and I think Meertoh is thinking about doing a Z Force Helicopter Custom.
It's good to be back

:cmmdr: Action Force STILL Needs You! :cmmdr:

Well given Space Forces somewhat limited useage (broad area, limited scope, afterall not like Baron Ironblood was out to colonise Mars or another star system, he only ever got a moon base), I would rename them to Aerospace Force and have them cover the skies inside and outside the atmosphere.

That way they could have had the Skystriker Jet added to their arsenal. As for Helicopters, if I was gonna give Z Force a heli I'd make it a Chinnook (spelling?), that way they'd have a fast way to transport their jeeps, bikes, pac/rats etc.
There are really only two possibilities: Either there is life in the universe more intelligent than us, or we are the most intelligent form of life in the universe. Either way, it's a pretty worrying thought!

Yeah the americans got all the best stuff, even when we had the post-palitoy figures we still missed out on a load of stuff (Defiant, Terrordrome, USS Flagg etc).

And yes the Flagg was the biggest GI Joe toy at an awesome 7.5' long!! They had to make it big enough that the Skystriker and Conquest jets could both land on it and not make it look ridiculous by scale. It is very rare to find a 100% complete one on ebay and on the couple occassions I've seen such a thing they went for $400+. Gawd alone knows how much it would cost to ship one of these behemoths from the states.

And then you have to wonder at how much paint it would take to paint the sucker up in Q Force colours...

:levi2: "Now THATS what I call a ship!"

:ace: "Finally somewhere I can land this crate, was getting low on fuel!"

there are a couple of Flaggs up for sale on ebay.com, as you said none of them seem close to complete, and the one that is closest is charging ?80 just for shipping within the US, but would I like one of these especially as you mentioned in the q force colours, talkabout collection centerpiece, although almost nil chance of smuggling it in past the other half.

I got chatting once to a star wars dealer who went to the states once a year and filled up a storage container with toys to ship back to here, he said he saved a fortune not just on shipping but the fact that items of this size sell for tons if they are located here.

Now all we need to do this is find a friendly US collector who has access to a sea port and x amount of ?0000s to get the container filled up and shipped over here and we could make a mint selling the oversize Gi Joe playsets

I know I said it before but what Q Force really needed was a boat!

Q force had a colour scheme of a childrens entertainer where the only place they would blend in to would be a Mcdonalds.

If they had a boat, it would of been so brightly coloured the enemy would not have needed radar, they would have been visable miles away.

They must of used Ronald McDonald to design their camo, who else would make an ocean attack force bright yellow, red and blue?

The only time they came close was the Naval Attack figure as he was very dark blue, but even he had a pointless white paint job on his Helmet (insert snigger here) which deemed his camo questionable too.

Unfortunately you make a very good point about poor old :qforce: They might as well have been Harlequin Force and gone full-on for the red-blue-yellow thing.

Besides, what were they there for, apart from being their to mop up lots of :kraken: and :skeletron: (assuming they could swim and the fuses didn't short-out..) who presumably just happened to be swimming about in the ocean due to the Baron's lack of seapower????

:baron: and :qforce: needed, sad to say, something along the lines of the much later Cobra Water Moccasin's and Moray Hydrofoil (as mentioned previously) for the Red Shads so that Sealion and co. could do some real fighting instead of rolling about in a death-struggle with a dyspeptic Kraken. The figure (?Copperhead) with the Moccasin could easily have been one of the Shad hierarchy - although maybe :jackal: :vulture: :laser: and :wolf: would have rather been put-out by someone other than the Black Major not having to wear a full-face mask 24-7. Dunno which figure was with the Hydrofoil.

But best of all would have been a Red Shadow amphibious hovercraft assault ships as drawn in BAF (Op Bloodhound... of course) based on those designed and used by the Soviet Marines in the mid-80s. Could have fitted all the land and sea assets of the :enemy: for a full on assault against :af: !!! BLOOD FOR THE BARON!!!
2014 was proudly brought to you by :enemy: :baron: :major: :laser: :vulture: :jackal: :wolf: :muton: :shadow: :kraken: :skeletron: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :torch: :skeletron2: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow: :shadow:
