Uncarded/unboxed stuff

Post by DRW »

Does nobody want unboxed or uncarded stuff? Is it worthless? Seems such a shame.

What's the best thing to do with the collection of AF figures that seem to have set up an impenetrable base camp under my desk? Flog them to a dealer? Stick 'em back in the attic for another 20 years? Chuck the little fellas in the bin..?

Suppose I could put them on eBay, but there's too much fraud on there.

Your honest opinions please...

I know someone who's recently lost over ?800 on an eBay scam, and had someone trying to extort money from me while I was bidding on an item a couple of weeks ago. I don't like it.

Who knows? Your nice, warm home may yet be their destination...

I buy a fair amount of loose stuff both privately and on ebay, sadly I'm only buying Space Force Currently. But a good loose vehicle can make good money, and a set of good loose figures also can.

Generally there is a good market for it if the condition is good and they are complete. I've never sold on ebay, but the people I know who do sell generally seem to protect themselves by not shipping goods until payment has cleared.

The market is very quiet currently (as it is every summer) so it may be better waiting a month or two.

Off the top of my head the best people to ask advice about selling on ebay would be Jonathon (Newswseller), Clemens (cscholl) or Jim (The Baron).

Hope that's some help to you.

Cheers. I guess I'll let them continue battle under my desk for a few more months. As long as that Muton fella leaves me alone, they'll be just fine...

Sorry to hear about those bad experiences, fortunately I have only had good experiences on ebay.

I have only ever been ripped off by an online seller outside of ebay, so I actually feel happier going through ebay for sellers I don't know from previous experience.

I think the key thing is that there is good and bad everywhere.

I've sent you an email, as I've realised you've got one or two bits that I am after.

To avoid dealers who have to buy low and usually sell high (and before I get flamed I don't mean the specialised dealers here, more like your average dealer found at most toyfairs), I would rather sell on ebay direct to other collectors as that is the only way you will get close to their true worth.

I have never had a bad experience on ebay (well apart when I accidently bid $4000 for a cardboard base because the dec point did'nt register)

If you want an ebay easy sale, only limit your sale to uk, if you include US you stand a chance of getting more cash as I suppose this stuff is rarer over there and you can make life easier by stating that you will only accept payment in ?sterling.

If you include rest of europe too this is another plus, I've sold a few items abroad, you might get some comedy emails from people using software translation tools that make you feel like your talking to Yoda but its all part of the fun.

As Stve said just always make sure the funds have cleared before you ship.

But would there not be enough buyers on this discussion board who would be interested in buying so that you can avoid dealers and ebay. I think at the right price everything would go.
