Hello!!!!! I'm back!! Kind of! Been a little spaced out since I got back at the weekend (worst jet lag I've EVER had, and it's still going strong - three days straight without sleep so far, but starting to hallucinate now!) so not really been up to actually typing really (black and yellow makes my brain hurt!!!!)! They reckon as a guide it takes a day per hour of time difference to get over West to East jet lag, which is a bit scary as it means I have about another week of this madness to put up with, but I seem really susceptible to it too (I always suffer badly), so lord knows when (if ever!) I will be sane again!!
First off - a HUGE "Thanks" to everyone involved who sent me the card and pressie! It really cheered me up on my first day back at work and when I showed MrsD (still cant get used to that!) last night she at first thought it was a crap excuse on my part for having bought another toy, but when I showed her the card and stuff she was very touched, so the little guy is now taking up temporary residence with the Wedding cards in the front room (first time ever a toy has been allowed on display in the front room!!!!) until he moves to his full time spot in pride of place in the MOC Shad collection once the cards get taken down! You guys (and gals!) rock!!! Thank you!!! You're all awesome! I really am touched!
Secondly - thanks for all of the messages in the other thread which now seemed like a lifetime ago!
It's certainly been a mad busy month has August in the life of MrD, but it sure has been a good one! Wedding day itself went really well - and despite being pulled in lots of different directions on the day and hardly having a minute to myself the whole shebang passed off well and everyone had a good time. All the things we were worried might kick off didn't, and the total day was thoroughly enjoyable (if a tad expensive!). Even my ultimate dread - our first dance - went quite well - we rocked to Enter Sandman, in what was an almost competent choreographed bit of dancing!!! (MrsD's Xmas present from me last year was one on one dance lessons for us, which in turn led to Stormie being in pride of place atop our Wedding Cake! I kid you not - pictures to follow when I have them!!
"See, I told you I'd be there!")Honeymoon was amazing! We took in a couple of nights in San Francisco and then a week on Kauai (northern most island of Hawaii) and a week on Oahu in the best hotel I've ever stopped in! We were literally on Waikiki Beach, and the whole window was sea view!! It was cool, and I didn't want to come home, but Mrs D talked me out of setting up as a moustached Private Eye on the island (apparently it's been done already) and when our time was up we headed back via Chicago for a couple of nights. I really liked Chicago too, so all in all it was a roaring success, and the jet lag is a small price to pay for such a holiday. I've wanted to go to Hawaii ever since I got hooked on Magnum as a kid, so it really was living out a 20 year ambition.
Oh, and the best thing of all - MrsD is now officially MrsD!!!
So, after almost a month off work, and a month away from you guys, here I am kind of back! I say kind of, as my body clock is still somewhere over the Pacific, but it will be here soon I hope.
Taking a while to catch up on posts, but it looks like I missed some interesting finds by Pauli & Jonesy whilst I was away! And even the resurfacing of Dave Tree on one or two occasions!! (any rumours that Dave Tree is my evil alter ego are furiously denied - it's just coincidence that when I go away he appears, and vice versa!).
Anyway, good to be back folks, and looking forward to settling down to lots more toy talk, inane banter and generally offbeat shenanigans in the months to come. I'm also looking forward to getting some time back doing some customs as the Winter months approach and now I've got some spare time back after all that Wedding planning stuff!
