Assorted bits and pieces

Post by Red Baron »

T'shots many recent posts have encouraged me to have a short dig around this afternoon to find my New Avengers jigsaws. As I did so, I found a few other bits and pieces that I thought some people might be interested to see. So here goes . . . first up, the New Avengers jigsaws.

. . . and finally, Matchbox Mobile Action Command. I liked this when I was a kid and you can tell as it is a bit worn around the edges. The joints on the legs were quite fragile in hindsight and some of their knees looks close to breaking . . . in fact a couple already are  Sadly all the white elastic bands that acted as the backpack straps have now long dried up too. You can also see I had my weekly Battle Action Force subscription at the time, adding the free bullet stickers to the outside of the Command Centre :-D

Yes, the Cybernauts picture is quite nice. Would be nice to find out which one I'm missing.

Wow! That Matchbox Mobile Action Command is simply stunning! I don't think I've ever seen one before...? Are those figures sometimes listed on eBay as Action Jacks?

Thanks Shaunboy.

Since dragging that lot out of my parent's loft a few years ago, I have searched a few times on eBay for anything else from the range - I'd perhaps buy a few extra bits if the price was right - but apart from a handful of items listed in the US once, I haven't come across anything.

I'd have thought it was more common than that, but there you go. I'd never have even thought to try Action Jacks as a name, but maybe they do get listed as that sometimes. I'm guessing at the time, this was sold cheap to compete with the likes of Action Force. It was perhaps short lived. All I remember is I used to enjoy playing with it, because everything had moveable parts and accessories. Happy days :-D

. . . just had a search on eBay and Action Jacks look like the same figure type, but a different range. Perhaps Matchbox bought / sold the basic moulds.

Did also find this listed from the MAC range http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Matchbox-1974-Mob ... 41510c35e7

Seems these things are a bit pricey!

Some lovely stuff there mate, especially the MAC Command Centre. Wanted one of those when I was a kid.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
