I was told by the 'officer' that it happened on private land, ie a carpark so was not contravening any law and not a criminal offence. They just weren't interested and I'm sad to say that its not an isolated occurrence either.

Thank's Paul, I think it's going to be a lot of hassle, & due to the colour I certain it'll never look 'right' again...it's a real pity, as this is the car I want to keep untill I get old & grey, I tend to keep my cars for years any way but this ones (as you can probably tell) is special to me, so for some small minded bastard to do to her really hurts.

It's just a sign of the time I'm afraid OBD, The Police just don't seem interested in small petty crime any more.

How's that joke go?
Guy, late one night, calls the Police to report an intruder in his house, & an officer tells him "I'm sorry we don't have enough manpower, we'll send someone around in the morning"
..so the guy waits 5 minutes & phones the Police agian "I've just shot the intruder"
Within minutes every cop in the city turns up, including armed marksmen & the helicopter, to the guys house to find the home holder sitting calmly in his kitchen having locked up the thief, unharmed alive & well, in his shed.
"I thought you said you'd shot him?" says the Police officer..to which the guy responds"& I thought you said that you didn't have enough manpower to spare any one untill the morning!"
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

So you can murder people in car parks then? Good to know.

I was tempted to say that to the officer but thought better of it. All I know is that Kent Police weren't too happy that I caught with a picture one of their officers hiding with a speed camera trying to catch speeders on a dual carriageway.

I dunno WTF the planets are doing this year, but it has been the hardest of my life. Mind you, Jim, I wouldn't wish any of it on anyone, except the scumbag that keyed T'shots car of course.

Um, really? Man you are too nice. I would have (and have before) torn the cops a new one. f*cking speed camera's and booze busses bu no resources to fight real crime. Limp dicks.

I had an incident this year that was VERY serious and the pricks have yet to act on it. Which remind's me that I must sort the f*ckers out. First time I ever got the cops to make an incident report, absolutely nothing happened. I've learnt from that to make sure you keep on their toes. Worse than the crims in some cases.

T'shot, if the panel beater is worth his salt, you won't notice the paint. Will insurance cover it?

The offence of reckless criminal damage can occur in public or in private. A decade ago there was plenty of too-ing and fro-ing regarding whether or not a car park is a road for certain road traffic law purposes, but criminal damage is covered by a separate act.

If I were to be kind I would suggest that the officer confused the above but to be blunt I think they just lied.

Absolutely true! No matter how bad the damage, it can be solved!

The missus' Mitsubishi Colt, a brand new car, was only a few weeks old when some blind piece of sh*t didn't pay attention when leaving the parking spot and rammed the door. Of course nobody left a note. Costs: €2,000. Fully covered by insurance. Damage restored perfectly.

The missus reared my Nissan X-trail into a barrier. Cost: €1,200. Company car, so all costs were fully covered. Damage restored perfectly, but on the next car, a Mitsubishi Outlander, I took the option of a rearview camera. Just to be on the safe side! ;)

I'm with the other guys in this T'Shot - bastards who did it, but some talented guy at the paint shop will be able to fix it - even though it is a metallic. I tore a hole in my passenger side door skin on my Honda Type R. Silver metallic - got it panel beaten, filled and sprayed and nobody could tell it had damage (even my Dad, who used to be a paint sprayer!).

Even my 87 Sierra - Diamond white, but colour slightly faded by 23 years of sunshine, and when I got some marks touched up on that they are unnoticeable, unless you look really hard. Take it to a good paint shop - remember - you get what you pay for - or in this case - what the Ins Co pay for!

Do you still have your Sierra?
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
